Cumhuriyet Atatürk için her şeyden evvel anayasa ve kanun demektir, meclis demektir. Bugünün Türkiyesi’nden yeni bir müteşebbis sınıfın, dünyaya açılan bir ticaretin, dünya ordularını talim ettiren bir ordunun bulunması onun hayalidir. Bugün etrafımızdaki coğrafyalar kaynıyor. Bunlar içinde Türkiye en iyi durumdaysa ve barışını sağlayabiliyorsa bu büyük bir başarıdır. Cumhuriyet’in hayali budur.
Atatürk'ün 100 yıllık hayalinin içinde Türklerin hem Türk tarihine, Şark tarihine ama hem de dünya tarihi ve coğrafyasına hâkim olması düsturu vardır. Ona göre; dünyayı bilmeyen, ona fikren ve malumat olarak hükmetmeyen bir ulusun büyük milletler arasında yeri yoktur… Bu nedenledir ki hayalinin ilk parçası olan Osmanlı mevcudiyetinde bulunan fakat dağınık olarak yaşayan müzik, opera, klasik dillerin öğrenimi, arkeoloji, dünya tarihi gibi konuları müesseseleştirmek onun gerçekleştirmek istediği hayallerindendir.
İdeali olan şeylerin bazıları onun devrinde gerçekleşmeye başladı, bazıları da onun arkasından. Tabii bilimlerde, coğrafya, mühendislikte ve tıpta bu kadar kuvvetli bir ülkeyi tahayyül etse de gerçekleştiğini görmek zordu. Bu dalların kökü ondan 100 sene evveline gittiği için bunların acilen gerçekleştirilmesini de istiyordu. Bugünün Türkiyesi’nden yeni bir müteşebbis sınıfın, dünyaya açılan bir ticaretin, dünya ordularını talim ettiren bir ordunun bulunması onun hayalidir. Bu onun istediğinin ötesinden gerçekleşmiştir. Ancak şüphesiz ki bugünün Türkiyesi’nde insanların her birine fırsat veremeyen, özelleşen, kapalılaşan, imtiyaz sağlayan fakat kalitesiz bir şekilde artan eğitim kurumları onun düşüncelerinin aksinedir. Kendi devrinde maarif alanında daha büyük işler yapılmakta en azından ümit verici, göğüs kabartıcı bir durum sözkonusuydu.

What % of published academic research papers are worth anything? Roughly: Half of the fields are useless. 90% of the research from real fields is marginal at best. Half or more of the remainder doesn’t replicate. = ~2.5%? AI text generation can’t make this much worse, can it?

The race specific emojis was such a bad move. The point of the bright yellow is that it's nobody's actual skin color so it represents the abstraction of the given emotion instead of that emotion's manifestation in a specific person.

While helping 12 yo prepare for exams, I've also been teaching him what's real knowledge and what isn't. E.g. how distillation works is real knowledge. The fact that the thing that gets dissolved in a solution is called the solute isn't.
