Illinois allowed Katie’s killer to remain in our state through a chain of failures enabled by sanctuary politics with clearly zero meaningful guardrails:
- No meaningful health screening. He was not identified as having HIV until incarceration.
- False identities and documents. He used aliases and fraudulent identification documents. Federal prosecutors subsequently charged him with possessing false identification documents and falsely using a passport.
- Illinois licensed him to drive. The Urbana police report lists a valid Illinois driver’s license in his alias name.
- He registered and insured a vehicle. He was able to put a vehicle on Illinois roads and obtain insurance using that identity. The insurance company later walked away from the matter, citing fraud.
- He had already been deported. He returned illegally durning the Biden and Harris regime and ultimately lived in Illinois under a false identity.
Sanctuary politics provided the environment with zero meaningful guardrails to ensure someone with this history was identified, stopped and turned over to federal authorities.
Illinois taxpayers helped fund the systems that supported him. That includes me. I helped support Katie’s killer with my own tax dollars.
Let that sink in.
And let me be absolutely clear:
This is not about legal immigration.
My parents came to this country legally. They followed the rules, built a life and contributed to this country.
This is about illegal, lawless immigration and what happens when government policies fail to distinguish between people who follow the law and people who deliberately circumvent it.
And one more thing:
He was never supposed to be my neighbor.
He was never supposed to be your neighbor.
He was never supposed to be any Illinoisan’s neighbor.
Katie was the one who paid the ultimate price for those failures.
And this is only part of the story.
Immigrants arriving at Ellis Island in 1903 had to pass a doctor’s exam that checked for diseases like tuberculosis and trachoma. In 1906, 12,432 people were turned away at the door. The ones who got in brought $25 MILLION in cash with them, because they knew nobody was going to hand them anything.
There was no welfare, no food stamps, and no Medicaid. They had to actually work, or they were sent back.
Also, Back in 1903 assimilation was the goal. Congress passed a law in 1906 requiring anyone who wanted citizenship to speak English, and companies like Ford ran their own schools to teach English, safety, and American history. A Ford English School diploma even counted toward a person’s citizenship application.
Back when we were a proper country.. 💔💔
