Check out my review of "The Weight". Padraic McKinley’s directorial debut is a thriller one notch above serviceable thanks to a great leading performance and palpable tension. wp.me/p8VcQ7-1jH @NCFilmCritics

Good. It’s a great novel. I inhaled that book one summer. One of the best reads of my life.

…no Taylor Sheridan?
‘SICARIO 3’ is officially moving forward with Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin all returning. Padraic McKinley is set to direct with Steven Knight writing the script. (Source: Deadline)

I started this…I wasn’t in the best mood when i watched it and let’s just say it took me for a trip. I gotta finish it when my mind is right lol
Hi. This is my regular attempt to convince you that The Outwaters (2022) is not only the greatest found-footage horror movie of all time, but one of the greatest horror movies of all time. I have never (honestly NEVER) experienced such heart-pounding terror as when I was watching this movie. Also, this is the most beautifully shot found-footage horror flick. Just stunning.

Come on, man. Let it go. Go back to Tru Blu and catch more predators. Life goes on
Chris Hansen says that his "brand and name image" was "exploited for commercial enterprise" with "Primetime": "Because there was such an attempt to imitate — although I think it was way more dramatic and over the top — my mannerisms and my lines and things I’ve said over the years, they turned it into a science fiction film, almost, with the greens and the vampire look of the character. It’s just over the top. In fact, it was so over the top, I was left wondering, “What’s the point of this?” And again, I’m not objective, because they exploited me and my brand and my name image for commercial enterprise. But a lot of people don’t think that’s fair. A lot of people think that’s identity theft in one way or another." variety.com/2026/film/featur…

French connection, To Live and Die in LA, the Dark Knight, We Own the Night…so many more iconic choices
It’s got a few decent shots and some okay POV going on, but it isn’t even a tenth as good, high-stakes or intense as The French Connection and that was 1971. Watch more movies, kiddo.

Network. No question. Taxi Driver is for the sickos
What would’ve gotten your vote for the Best Picture Oscar of 1976?

Im seeing quite a few Black critics say “Misty Green” is awful or misogynoir…I’ll wait to see it myself because I make that statement. Chris Rock isn’t perfect but I want to see the film myself before I agree with that statement.

I like that movie. I remember seeing it in theatres on a whim and was surprised by how good it was
revisited Strangers: Prey at Night, still a total banger. Nobody using digital quite like Johannes Roberts, no idea how he and DP Ryan Samul find these soft, velvety textures (Samul’s work on Cold in July comes pretty close, though)

I like Captain Phillips. Great tension and strong performances. One of Greengrass’ best
It has been 13 years since the premiere of "Captain Phillips" (2013). Somehow, I have never come across a person on social media who has an opinion on the movie. But one thing has to be said, even if some people think it is a bad movie, they too will agree that it gave us a generational meme that is more talked about than the movie itself.

Is there anyone on here that’s seen EVERY Akira Kurosawa film?

“He’s pissing all over us! How does it taste?!” Forest Whitaker gave a guest performance for the ages on that show
The Shield made the mistake of not looking expensive and not making you feel prestigious and sophisticated for watching it. It was just really fucking good.

Say this for the folks in the back!
Andre 3000 didn’t make those OutKast albums alone. Casual fans don’t understand the GREATNESS of Big Boi.👑

Season 2 is special. Frank. Ziggy. The decline of the American workforce masked as tragedy. Brilliant television.
Season 2 of The Wire was arguably the best season next to Season 4. You may be a little slow no disrespect
