Nigeria’s security agencies are failing in their responsibilities, @PoliceNG @OfficialDSSNG as some politicians continue to publicly threaten violence ahead of 2027 elections, in utter disregard for the rule of law and the nation’s Electoral Act. The Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarret Tenebe, was quoted threatening “to invoke the “power of AK-47” against anyone plotting to thwart the party’s plan to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.” Tenebe made the threat during a campaign rally in Edo state where political violence is already rampant. Clearly, Jarret Tenebe is a danger to democracy and rule of law and must be held to account. Ahead of 2027 elections and beyond, it is essential that the Nigerian authorities ensure that any politician or other leaders, of any political party or grouping, responsible for carrying out or inciting or threatening politically, religiously or ethnically-motivated violence or human rights abuses must be held to account.

This brings back fond memories of our many road trips across Nigeria in 2022–23 —especially the night we spent sleeping in our cars at a fueling station in the forest outside Kaiama, Kwara State. His Excellency Peter Obi and I are still agile and fully ready for the task ahead. Are you? - RMK

What we saw in Ramin Kura is not an isolated story. It is a reflection of the suffering experienced, in different forms, across many parts of Nigeria. And yet, while ordinary Nigerians struggle with these realities, this present government often behaves as though these problems belong to another country. The political leaders, have failed our country and, most importantly, we have failed our children. This must change. My message today is not one of despair. It is a message of hope, determination and responsibility. I dare to proclaim with full assurance that a new Nigeria is possible. As President of Nigeria, I will make governance measurable, accountable and centred on the welfare and productivity of our people. Within the first year, Nigerians will begin to see the tangible impact of purposeful and effective leadership. We will confront insecurity decisively so that our farmers can return to their farms, our children can return to school, businesses can operate freely, and families can live without fear. No Nigerian should be forced to live in an IDP camp because his or her government has failed to provide security. My administration will work to ensure that Nigerians displaced by insecurity can begin to return safely and with dignity to their communities. We will move from a consumption-driven economy to a productive economy, one that creates jobs, expands opportunities, supports agriculture and manufacturing, invests in human capital, and makes Nigeria a country where young people can build meaningful lives. We will prioritise education, healthcare, security and productive enterprise because these are not luxuries. They are the foundations of a functioning nation. As I have always done, I will lead by example. In four years as President of this great nation, I will not spend my holidays outside Nigeria. My holidays will be spent in Zamfara State; Borno State; Kwara State; Ebonyi State; Edo State; Ekiti State and other Nigerian States. I want to continue to see Nigeria. I want to know Nigeria. I want to spend time with Nigerians, listen to them, understand their challenges and celebrate their resilience. We will build a Nigeria that is secure, united and productive; a Nigeria governed with competence, accountability and justice; a Nigeria where no child is denied education because of untold poverty or unbearable insecurity; where no mother dies because she cannot access basic healthcare; where farmers can return safely to their farms; where young people can find opportunities to work and prosper; and where public resources are deployed strictly for the public good. We will build a Nigeria that our children and future generations will be proud to inherit, a Nigeria where unity, peace, justice and prosperity are not merely words in speeches, but lived realities for our people. On this sixty-sixth Independence Anniversary, let us look back with gratitude, look around us with honesty, and look forward with courage. The Nigeria we desire will not be built by prayers alone, nor by promises alone. It will be built by leadership that understands that public office is a sacred trust, by citizens who demand accountability, and by all of us who refuse to accept failure as our destiny. It is time to build the new and productive Nigeria that is possible. May God Almighty bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. -PO

The Obidient Coordinator for Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Ben Smith, who went alongside other supporters to facilitate the release of @ElijahNoah8 and other members reportedly arrested earlier, has now been arrested himself by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in Ikot Akpan Abia. This kind of intimidation must not be tolerated.

This is the Cordinator @elijahnoah8 being arrested by more than 5 fully armed police officers on Independence day. His only crime was coming to check out the start off point for the march. This is how undemocratic AkwaIbom state government under the APC has become.
The OK movement Cordinator for AkwaIbom state has been arrested by the AkwaIbom state police while marching peacefully on the streets of Uyo. Tear gas is being fired at Peter Obi supporters in AkwaIbom as we speak.

PUBLIC STATEMENT Today, through my legal team, I filed a fundamental rights suit against the Nigerian Army, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Attorney-General of the Federation over the violation of my fundamental rights. On 28 April 2026, I was taken into custody by members of the Nigerian Army. During my detention, I was subjected to severe and degrading treatment. I was handcuffed and blindfolded, kept under the sun during the day and in extremely cold conditions at night. I was also denied adequate access to water and basic necessities. At the time, I did not know what would happen to me. I cried out for help and held on to my faith in God. I remain grateful to God for preserving my life through that experience. I was subsequently transferred to the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), where I spent approximately 21 days in detention. Although the court granted me bail, several months have now passed, and the violation of my fundamental rights has still not received the attention and remedy that the law provides. On 28 September 2026, I was again in court as the criminal proceedings continued. However, I believe it is important that the violation of my fundamental rights is also properly addressed through the appropriate legal process. This fundamental rights action is not an attempt to interfere with the ongoing criminal proceedings. It is a lawful step taken through my legal team to seek judicial determination of the circumstances surrounding my detention and the violation of my constitutional rights. I have chosen to pursue this matter through the courts because I believe that every citizen, regardless of their views, position, or circumstances, is entitled to the protection of the law and to have their fundamental rights respected. I am making this statement to formally notify the general public that this legal action has been commenced. I will continue to allow the courts to determine the issues before them and will refrain from making statements that could prejudice the proceedings. I am seeking justice, accountability, and respect for the rule of law. Justice Can Never Crack.
Today, we filed a fundamental rights suit against the Nig Army, Chief of Army Staff and the AGF for breaching the fundamental rights of our client, Justice Crack. On the 28th April, 2026, our client was arrested, detained, tortured, humiliated and investigated by the Nig Army.
