35 years now. What would they have achieved? How would they have contributed to Canada? How might they have changed the world? We’ll never know. But on this National Day of Remembrance, we can try to make our country & the world better in their memory. #MontrealMassacre

Incredible sad event. Being in Montreal at the time. We were all in disbelief.

This day has been hijacked by anti-gun fanatics. It needs to stop. Canadian men are not the problem

For a moving tribute to the beautiful women& their brief but achievement-filled lives, I highly recommend "Because They Were Women". An entire chapter is dedicated to each woman's life, loved ones, family photos& how their legacies are preserved& memorialized. #MontrealMassacre

It's a tragedy, they surely would've contributed to Canada... And instead we got stuck with the "survivors", who've been nothing but a 35 year detriment to our nation and culture.

So hard to believe it’s been 35 years. May their lives lost never ever be forgotten. 😔

This isn't a criticism of what you've written,Tom, but an addendum, and I know you'll agree. It doesn't matter what these young women might have achieved, or could have contributed. They simply deserved to live, whether they changed the world or not. Such a senseless hate crime.

They deserved to live. It doesn’t make any difference what they would have ‘contributed’.

Even if they never contributed anything, they deserved to live. To laugh, to be with their families, to dream, to read, to travel, to start their own families, have careers, to finish their educations.

Ya we could eliminate immigration from misogynist countries, we could lock up actual criminals and we could stop gaslighting people

If only a few of those ladies were armed, alas they weren’t allowed to protect themselves. Instead they had to wait for the police.

They just deserved to live. Their worth should not be measured by what they might have done or contributed for anyone other than themselves. We must never forget them & we must push back against all misogyny. #femicide

And the lasting legacy of pain to their families, loved ones. Plus, the 14 injured in the shooting who had to rebuilt bodies and lives, surviving this horrible act and their families.

As someone who has experienced the murder of a loved one, I'm getting pretty sick of politicians using tragedies to enforce more government control.

Don't really care Tom. Old news. Also, real citizen journalists already did this piece like 8 hours ago, where the fuck were you ? Looking for a new job I hope ?

But they have changed the world. The world has a different view today because of their deaths. I’m sure they would have changed the world if they were still here, but we remember them, and the effect their massacre has had on the world.

What also impresses me is that as people address this, the wishes of the survivors and families’ wish continues to be respected that the name of the murderer is not mentioned, only those robbed of their futures. May nobody slip on that point.
