Building a portfolio of consumer apps. My free ASO guide 👇

Current state of mobile dev (in my experience): iOS -> 20 days in review, rejected multiple times with vague copy-paste responses. Won’t tell you what’s wrong. Android -> approved & live 24 hrs later, no questions asked What the fuck is Apple doing??

I still remember when this was the complete opposite…which was like a few months ago Waiting for devday
Astra on $200 Codex plan lasts me 1 to 1.5 days per week. Opus 5.5 on $100 Claude plan lasts me 6-7 days per week. Average it out and Opus 5.5 gives about 5x more usage for half the price. so basically $100 Claude = $1000 Codex? wtf

~2012, talking about "brutal" competition on the App Store. Funny to read this 14 years later. Things haven't really changed, they just got 10x worse.

How I be talking to codex all day “etc” you figure it out bro
I love using the phrase "vice versa". Fuck you. I'm not saying all that again in reverse. Big shoutout to etcetera too. What am I, the listing things fairy? Use your imagination.

Burn through 7 days of usage in <1 day, without fast mode* I’m back on 5.6-sol and I’m much happier. It’s a more boring, predictable model. :)
I can't tell if Tibo's account is being run by Codex, he's oblivious or just ignoring the chorus of feedback around Astra usage limits. You can't boast about how efficient a model is when even Astra light will burn through 7 days of usage in a few days.

Moved to Superwall last year when I needed to pass dynamic variables to a paywall. Great product :)

everyone building products these days needs to come to terms with whether they want to be a content creator first or build a large business why? because if you are in the messy middle, you're bound to be fucked one way or the other remember cal ai being taken off the app store with their web2app funnel? well, because they were part of a larger organization, they got back on the app store within a day meanwhile, the prayer lock founders, who were trying to both build personal brands and an app business, had the latter taken away from them i'm seeing something similar with many other app founders building in public every time @HakDimoz posts about how profitable his meta ads currently are, i just wanna shout at my laptop i literally reverse-engineered his app and ads within 5 minutes and you know who else can do that very well - and then some?? government subsidized turkish app studios who will copy your product & ads pixel for pixel especially if you're profitable with ads, being transparent is the last thing you should do cause your cpm's will inevitably rise to the moon due to heightened bidding competition and that doesn't even include things like review bombing your app, reporting you to apple, or plugging their own app under every post you make now, if you're in it for the personal brand, great - i think that's a lovely way to make a living but you're inevitably going to cap your earnings potential because by definition, you have to be transparent about your journey and when you are, sharks will come for you every step of the way
i traded my mobile apps for fame on X, and i would do it again mobile apps are no different to dropshipping - the margins are thin - the real money is made from teaching others how to do it build an app, run tiktok ads, get to $10k/mo, build your audience in the age of AI - the only thing that is valuable and has longevity is personal branding if you have a successful mobile app - take advantage of it while you can - apps will not be a thing in 5 years

Behind every big MRR post, there are thousands of stories like this. I respect the transparency. It takes balls to talk like this in public. 🫡
every founder posts their wins on social media. here's my highlight reel of failures: > I spent 3 years building a startup to connect founders with tech talent, grew it to just 10K users before realizing the business model never made any sense > to build said startup, I skipped out on getting an internship or job in college and graduated with $120K in student debt > I flew out to LA for a final day of interviews at SpaceX (dream job at the time). I tried to bullshit legit rocket scientists in my first interview, got sent home early and sat by myself on the pier all day > back in 2018, I thought I could launch a crypto cold storage company as a side project. I bought 1,000 wallets from China… and sold 3. I still have 997 in my parents basement (hmu if you want one) > we hard launched one of our biggest ever product updates during peak hours without testing it nearly enough. it broke, hundreds of people lost their work, and users were (rightfully) very angry > I put my two cofounders on what I over-confidently thought was the biggest swing. tons of scope creep and 5 months later, we still somehow shipped an incomplete product that never got much traction > most of my relationships (lol) feel free to drop your biggest / most recent flop and we can all commiserate in the comments 👇

lol ok
Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.

Apple’s first Folding iPhone launches tomorrow.
Community note
The video is a fan concept by the poster (watermarked as such) showing a visible crease, not real Apple product or imagery. Apple's first foldable iPhone remains unannounced and is expected only to be revealed at a Sept 9 event, with no launch or availability tomorrow. apple.com/apple-events/ macrumors.com/roundup/iphone… idevice.com/phones/iphone-… cultofmac.com/news/folding-i…

Be careful out there. I almost got myself and Janu phished. 🫠
Almost got phished this week and tbh it was pretty clever. My buddy @constantout sends me a lead. Says he can't take it on, asks if I want it for a referral fee. Also says "not sure how legit it is lol." He adds me to the email thread. The name is weird already. Feels a little off. I think maybe they're just weird. They send me a Calendly link. Looks totally normal. Pick a date, pick a time. Then a Google sign-in pops up. A googel domain in the URL bar, little padlock, Calendly logo. Looks exactly right. Except you never need to sign in with Google to book a call with someone on Calendly. It's just name and email. And thank god, I knew about that. And the sign-in "window" wasn't a window at all. It was drawn inside the page. Fake URL bar and everything. That's why the address looked perfect. It wasn't real. I've seen the version where a "journalist" wants to interview you about a post. This one came through a friend as a paid lead, which is a way better hook. Anyway: if a booking link ever asks you to log in to Google, close it!!
