"Who are you?" makes you hand over your full name, address, date of birth, and more, often just to prove you're not a bot.
"Are you a unique human?" is the question Polkadot asks, and you can answer it without giving up your identity or being tracked across apps.
What matters is that you're a real person, not where you live or who you are.

Polkadot is working to make privacy the default across its upcoming product stack.
The more data a system collects, the better its AI can become at extracting even more data.
That creates a self-reinforcing spiral:
More data → better AI → better extraction → more data.
The Web3 Foundation panel with @BillLaboon at the @Web3summit explores how this cycle can gradually erode privacy while most users never see the full extent of what they are giving up.
Breaking that cycle requires more than privacy policies. It requires different technology.
That is where Polkadot Products and self-sovereign technology become relevant: building systems where people can interact digitally without making constant data extraction the default.

You can program and build it all yourself on the Polkadot Devnet, a precursor to a sovereign internet that empowers people and opens new use cases for the machine economy.

No need to trust a centralized provider; I use the Polkadot Devnet as source of truth.
Watch how this microcontroller uses a light client to verify the state of the Devnet.
This specific example will be extended for door access control, currently it just unlocks the display.
The IDs of the keys are padded and hashed. But maybe it would be possible to use ZK in the future 🤔
