A friend of a friend died of a massive heart attack today at 58.
I'm 52.
My uncle (a brilliant doctor) once told me that the 50s are actually the most dangerous decade--that's when you get the heart disease, cancer, etc. If you survive the 50s, you'll probably survive the 60s. In the 70s, people start dying of old age.
I think about my own mortality--a lot. I don't fear death, but there are still a lot of things I want to do in life.
My uncle, by the way, contracted pancreatic cancer at age 59. He is no longer with us.
