Big fan of CLIs over MCPs when possible. Hard to beat composability/scriptability in bash. Vercel’s agent-browser is a good example of a CLI for agents firs I use everyday 🙌

Mindful of the context window, consistency in how it reads, displays and writes information. Frictionless onboarding. Easy tool calling.

It’s so good you don’t actually have to touch the interface and it exposes you to as much of the platform as possible. Good comparison is Flora’s MCP vs Krea’s

MCPs are good up until you want to query multiple things. Let's says "get all my records for last 30days" now it goes in a loop for ever. And it cannot write any python code etc to run the loop to fetch records or extract specific columns only. Only possible only with CLIs (1)

@kentcdodds has great examples His courses and cohorts had great experiences when using MCP. Super minimal but very effective especially when tool calling 💯💯

I feel like supabase and vercel mcps have worked great with me. I don't even really notice them. But sometimes when I check the logs, the agent has used the CLI instead. So 🤷‍♂️ Unnoticeable MCP might be the answer.

It’s invisible. I don’t want to think or see it after installing, that I also don’t do. Agent first.
