Change the catchers thought process. Not a fan of the term “Soft Hands”. Coaches told me that all the time. Soft hands creates weakness within the catch and allows the ball to control you. I want “Firm Hands” representing strength into the catch. The pocket catches the ball and hands facilitate it.

His hands are ridiculous and it doesn’t matter the velo. Very advanced set ups situationally plus a game management education over the years sitting in on all our advanced meetings and POA’s. That education and clubhouse experience is rare and provides something you just can’t replicate for a player his age.

One thing we have to keep in mind with analytics is they’re not just used for hitting and P. Defensive positioning with analytics has gotten better and has had a lot to do with Avg’s going down.

Rankings are honestly irrelevant. From an evaluators perspective I’ve seen some “ranked” players that quite honestly shouldn’t be there or IMO won’t actually play the position they’re ranked in, at a high level for specific reasons. Just sayin. Development and actual real development takes place much later in a players career.
