The Dunn House model brings health care and housing together. It provides supportive housing for those who need it most, reduces strain on emergency services, and saves millions of dollars in health care costs.
It’s compassionate, effective care — and that’s why we’re expanding it.
Housing is a key part of health care.
Opened in Toronto in 2024, Dunn House, Canada’s first Social Medicine housing, has already shown extraordinary results. By offering permanent and supportive housing to those experiencing homelessness, we’ve seen emergency department visits down 52% and hospital stay lengths down 79% among residents, as well as millions of dollars saved in hospital costs.
Less than a year after launching, Build Canada Homes is already helping scale this proven model. With a new $25 million federal investment in Dunn House Phase 3, we’re expanding supportive housing and changing more lives.
