📎amzn.eu/d/0aceEpyd

🚩 Peace with Israel is the single most terrifying word in Lebanese politics, not because it threatens Lebanon, but because it threatens every faction that has built its empire on the permanent absence of it. I have watched this country for decades, and I will tell you what no one on a podium has the courage to say: the people who oppose peace are not protecting Lebanon; they are protecting their own relevance. Hezbollah cannot exist without the “enemy” at the gate. Iran cannot justify its corridor to the Mediterranean without a front line that never closes. And every warlord turned statesman who laundered a militia past into a cabinet future needs permanent instability the way a parasite needs a host. That is why they prefer death over peace. Not Lebanese death, which has never cost them a single sleepless night, but the death of the system that feeds them. Christians watched their presidency hollowed into a rubber stamp issued from Dahiyeh. Sunnis watched Rafik Hariri assassinated and his political heirs forced to coexist with the architecture of his assassination. The Druze watched their autonomy reduced to a phone call from a handler. Every community outside Hezbollah’s orbit has been living under undeclared occupation disguised as national unity, and the absence of peace is the lock on the cage. Sixty years of rejectionism didn’t liberate a square meter, didn’t build a single power plant, and didn't secure a future. It buried 200,000 people, bankrupted a nation, exiled a generation, and delivered total strategic control to a militia that answers to Tehran and calls it sovereignty. Anyone still defending this isn’t a patriot. They are either an operative, or a hostage so conditioned by captivity that they have mistaken the warden for a guardian. This is why peace isn’t just a diplomatic position; it is the single act capable of collapsing the entire architecture of Lebanese captivity. The moment the war justification disappears, Hezbollah loses its veto, Iran loses its last ideological foothold on the Mediterranean, and every political actor in Beirut is forced to stand naked, stripped of the conflict they’ve hidden behind for half a century. And then, only then, the Lebanese can finally have the conversation that’s been strangled since Taif: what does this country actually look like when no one holds a gun to the table? Perhaps it’s federalism. Perhaps it’s partition. Perhaps it’s a model no one has written yet. But that conversation is impossible as long as one armed faction holds the permanent right to override every community in the name of a resistance that resists nothing except Lebanon’s own survival. The opponents of peace know this perfectly well. They know that the day Lebanon signs, their operating myth dies. That’s why they will fight it with every tool they have: religious guilt, nationalist shame, sectarian fear. Because peace doesn’t just end a conflict with Israel; it starts a reckoning with them. And they would rather bury another generation than face that reckoning. Enough. The absence of peace has already cost Lebanon everything except its last heartbeat, and the men who caused it are now asking for more time. They’ve had a century. The answer is no.

Amer Abu Sabila, 25, a married father of two, was driving from his Bedouin village to Sderot to visit his brother on October 7. On the road, he came across the Swissa family. Minutes earlier, the father, Dolev, had been fatally shot by terrorists in the car. Amid the chaos, as militants poured into town, Odaya Swissa struggled to drive her daughters to safety and desperately called for help. Amer, on the phone with his father, who begged him to turn back immediately, answered: “Father, there is a mother and two girls in front of me in danger. I must help them.” He got into Odaya’s car and began following a policeman toward the nearest station, but Hamas was waiting for them at Sderot police station. The two terrorists repeatedly shot at the policeman, Amer, and Odaya. Miraculously, the two little girls, aged 3 and 6, who were hiding in the back seat, were unharmed. They were later rescued by a passing security officer. In just a few minutes, Hamas destroyed three families, but thanks to Amer, the two girls survived and have the chance to grow up. The media, the Free Palestine crowd, and the world, who know nothing about Israel, love to portray Israel as an apartheid state: Jews against Muslims. But the truth is far more nuanced. The truth is that a hero like Amer, an Arab Israeli, a Muslim, gave his life to save two Jewish girls. Allah yerahmo 💔

Hamas sent its Nukhba [elite] forces today in Khan Younis to defeat the Al-Majayda family/clan, record the footage for propaganda right before today's ceasefire announcement & show the group as being in total control of Gaza. Instead, the clan's valiant resistance and the drone strike by the Israeli military foiled, aborted, and ended their plans, which backfired horribly in a massive embarrassment. Interestingly, the terror group's Nukhba members came with reconnaissance footage from a drone, target photos including children to kidnap, and printed out instructions, similar to what they had on October 7, including references to them commandeering two ambulances for use in the operation. Multiple Gaza sources confirm that the entire force emerged from its hideout at the Al Nasser Hospital, proving once again the disgusting and gross extent to which Hamas has weaponized medical and humanitarian facilities to conduct terror and warfare operations, endangering civilian lives and eliciting Israeli airstrikes that cause massive loss of life and infrastructure damage.

The only sustainable way to eradicate Hamas and terrorism in Gaza is by empowering a new local security apparatus, with regional and international support and supervision, to police the coastal enclave and be equipped with the tools, expertise, equipment, personnel, and resources needed to take on remnants of Hamas and its splinter cells. Whether a force that is run and operated by the Palestinian Authority or one that is under the auspices of a transitional framework, the Gaza Police Force should allow for the rise of a new generation of professional security services that are not controlled by partisan groups like Fatah or Hamas, as has been the case since the establishment of the Palestinian Authority in 1993. Membership in the new Gaza Police Force should be open to all who wish to fulfill their patriotic duty toward the Palestinian National Project by professionally serving their community and contributing to the nation-building narrative and agenda, which will ultimately lead to the establishment of a successful and functional state of Palestine. The force would need to have multiple components, but most importantly, a paramilitary group and a special operations battalion. Both should be equipped with Mine-Resistant-Armed-Protected (MRAP) Vehicles, pick-up trucks, infantry mobility vehicles, and motorcycles for rapid deployment. The infantry should be fitted with professional uniforms, body armor, small arms, light machine guns, communications equipment, and a range of necessary tools for addressing specialized crises and situations. The force should comprise specialists who are trained in intelligence, engineering, rapid reaction, de-escalation, community relations, and special operations tactics. The Gaza Police Force, under the GTS (Gaza Transitional Service) framework, can serve as a bedrock for the Strip’s transformation.

Inside the Catholic Church of the Holy Family of Gaza, there is a family of 5 that I have been trying ceaselessly for a month to help get out and head to Australia, where they have approved/valid visas. Despite facing initial problems, the various Israeli apparatuses have fully agreed to facilitate their safe exit and even offered the possibility of a convoy to help get them out of the church and to the border crossing. The main issue and hindrance now is with the Australian government and specifically, the unwillingness of the Australian Embassy in Israel to provide "Consular Services" to this Christian Gazan family. This service is crucial because it would inform Jordanian authorities of this family's status and would confirm to them that they are merely passing through to board aircraft headed to Sydney, Australia. Without consular services, the family can never leave Gaza and travel through Jordan, which is the only viable option available to them. Despite repeated requests from relevant Israeli and American officials, our Australian friends in Israel are refusing to help this family leave by not providing the coordination needed to evacuate them, as is customary. I'm pleading with Australian decision-makers: please help save the lives of this family and allow them to exit Gaza; they are entrepreneurial, highly educated, business-savvy, and represent some of the best that Gaza has to offer. They need assistance to evacuate through Jordan and use the airport in Amman to fly to Australia. They have the financial means to pay their way to Australia and support themselves - they just need to get out. This is just as valid and necessary a cause as supporting Palestinian statehood at the United Nations next week. Consular services for desperate Gazans are indeed a first step to recognizing the State of Palestine, for in this case, they will save lives. @AusintheUS @AmboRudd @AusAmbIsrael @AlboMP @dfat @AustralianLabor @Tony_Burke @SenatorWong

Hamas fascists are confirming that they have distributed Israeli hostages throughout Gaza City and will let them be killed by the Israeli military. This is effectively the terror group saying destroy every inch of the city. Of course, they've used 2 million Palestinian people in Gaza as human shields; what's to stop them from using 20 Israelis? Hamas is the enemy of the Palestinian people; Hamas was created to destroy the Palestinian people; Hamas is an inorganic cancer that introduced the worst ideologies in Palestinian society: the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic Republic of Iran's Islamism, Jihadism, and Suicidal Nihilism. Every Hamas leader must be hunted down; every remaining Hamas combatant and leader in Gaza should be terminated unless they surrender; every Hamas supporter and backer in the West must face severe legal and financial consequences; every funder of Hamas must go bankrupt; every cheerleader for the terror group must be shamed out of existence; every university that allowed pro-Hamas protesters on its campus should lose its accreditation; every tax-exempt nonprofit organization that ran cover for Hamas and promoted the "resistance" narrative should be investigated and lose its tax status. It's time to de-normalize support for Hamas and treat the group, its backers, and its supporters as a clear and present danger to humanity and civilization.

We've been saying for a while that the international law community has been deliberately misrepresenting what international law says in order to rage at the Gaza war. Whenever you drill into the reports, they never end up proving the headline - as in the latest UN report on "genocide." Again and again and again. Specific intent, questions of inference, alternative warfighting methods - on all these key questions, only silence. And they do it with the complete and happy knowledge that no one anywhere, no journalist and no politician, will read the actual report or point out these disqualifying flaws. And now the X account of the Pope - the actual Pope himself - literally mistranslated the Ten Commandments in order to critique the Gaza war. What the hell am I supposed to say? I have profound respect for Catholicism, I really do. I've read enough to know why Catholicism inspires billions, about the idea of grace as God's overflowing love, the understanding of Jesus's divinity as a divine step toward humans because humans could not themselves reach across that infinite gap - a vast mystical system built on a divine gift of absolution powerful enough to heal a broken world. You don't have to believe in it to understand that it is one of the great wonders of human intellectual history. And then the pope mistranslates the Ten Commandments in obeisance to the prevailing zeitgeist about the evil Jews. Now what? Folks, it's a horrible war. We need to end it as soon as humanly possible. And everyone out there seems to know exactly how to accomplish that. I'm the last idiot alive who looks at this war and sees only impossible dilemmas. I wish I had the confidence and clarity that comes to the rest of you so easily. If Hamas remains in Gaza, no ceasefire will give us an actual end to the fighting. It'll be merely a short respite before Hamas goes to war again. No one has yet explained to me why that isn't a certainty. And no one will rebuild Gaza while Hamas controls the money, the cement and everything happening on the ground. This, too, is never contradicted when I point it out. And when Hamas is finally gone - I'll happily switch sides to the campaign to prevent the most extreme parties in Israel from, for example, trying to build settlements there. Really. I'm a hawk on Hamas so I can one day soon become a dove after Hamas. But every good outcome - a good future for Gaza, an actual end to the endless war, Israel's future safety - all depend on Hamas being removed. And everyone acknowledges it when you point it out. So if your UN "report" doesn't mention Hamas, or if your tweet, Your Holiness, doesn't notice that Hamas could end this in about ten minutes, then you're not actually trying to end the war. You're just patting yourselves on the back for your own righteousness. And if you warp law and Bible for that posturing, why should anyone listen to you? This was written in real frustration, please don't read it as mocking.
This is a stupendously bad statement. Whoever writes these tweets for His Holiness should be fired. Never mind the war, it doesn’t even get the Bible right. It isn’t, “thou shall not kill.” It’s, “thou shall not murder.” The Bible permits war and it permits defensive killing - kinda like international law. But this statement is bad on the war too. Mealy-mouthed and avoiding, it names neither Israel nor Hamas, but only so it can avoid naming Hamas. If you can’t find the moral backbone to say something specific about Hamas, who still plan the genocide of Jews and could end this all in ten minutes but choose not to, then what’s the point of being pope? Asking honestly.

I express my profound closeness to the Palestinian people in Gaza, who continue to live in fear and to survive in unacceptable conditions, forced once again from their own lands. Before Almighty God, who commanded “Thou shalt not kill,” and throughout human history, every person always has an inviolable dignity, to be respected and upheld. I renew my appeal for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and a negotiated diplomatic solution, in full respect of international humanitarian law. I invite everyone to join my heartfelt prayer that a dawn of peace and justice may soon arise.

This is the point of the whole exercise: To delegitimize dissent. This is how elites manufacture consent, especially on the left. If it was a pure critique of the war, Hamas would be a meaningful part of the report. Hamas’s explicit goal, after all, is genocidal. It doesn’t hide it. But Hamas isn’t there. Palestinian agency is missing entirely, which is strange when you consider that everyone, including this person on X, understands that Hamas could stop the war at any moment. And that it vows even now to continue the war forever, until the destruction of Israel. That’s not how genocides work. No, the goal here isn’t to argue that there’s a genocide that must be stopped. The campaign to label the war to remove Hamas a genocide began on October 8, it was launched not to stop the war but to ensure it goes Hamas’s way. The goal is to build out the permission structure for the one thing the enemy never stopped demanding: a dismantling of Israel and subsequent genocide of Israelis. Congratulations. You’ve all lived long enough to witness history’s first anti-genocide campaign conducted in support of a genocide. The left, with its unassailable moral categories and complete disinterest in the actual dilemmas of real humans - how did defunding the police go? - doesn’t have the intellectual or moral capacity to grapple with the dilemmas Israelis face in this war. It’s totally appropriate to rage at a terrible war. But if you asked this woman which was preferable, an Israeli victory that ended the war and began Gaza’s rebuilding or continued war and suffering that might end in a Hamas victory, her ilk always choose the latter. Because they know it isn’t a genocide, because they just support Hamas. They’re not anti-war, and they aren’t even anti-genocide. They just want them to go the other way.
Everyone please start using the terms "genocide denier" and "genocide denial"

You all think this is funny. This isn’t funny. The entire edifice is rotten and failing. The new UN standard for calling a war “genocide” - at least if Jews are involved; they’re not claiming this in Sudan or Ukraine or Yemen - is “knowing not all deaths will be combatants and doing the war anyway.” By that definition, every war is a genocide. Every. Single. War. But it’ll still work. The actual argument is irrelevant. No one, no journalist and no scholar and no politician, will bother with the staggering incoherence of this report, with the collapse of international law into pathological stupidity. The point is the libel. And all the institutions will play their role. This is that how the world works now. At least, again, when Jews are involved.
I'm reading the UN Human Rights Council report that accuses Israel of the g-word. It is hard to overstate the stupidity contained within. Here are some sentences that I just read: "Based on the above, the Commission finds that the Israeli security forces were aware that their military operations since 7 October 2023 would cause the deaths of Palestinians in Gaza. Furthermore, considering the duration of the military operations and reports of high numbers of deaths, it is reasonable to find that the Israeli authorities knew of the high numbers of casualties in Gaza since 7 October 2023. Nevertheless, Israeli authorities did not intervene to change the means and methods of warfare employed; on the contrary, the military operations persisted over time and caused even more Palestinian deaths. The Commission therefore finds that the Israeli authorities intended to kill as many Palestinians as possible through its military operations in Gaza since 7 October 2023 and knew that the means and methods of warfare employed would cause mass deaths of Palestinians, including children."

While attending the Haaretz Conference over the weekend, it was disappointing that several participants took issue with my critique of Hamas and “pro-Palestine” activists in general, and in particular those who were protesting outside of the newspaper’s conference for the whole day. Some critiques came from fellow compatriots, who did not like my dismissal of the anti-Haaretz protestors outside, my not using terms like “genocide” and “apartheid” in every other sentence, speaking perfect English, wearing a suit and tie, or even failing to acknowledge that Hamas is supposedly the “resistance product of Israeli occupation and oppression.” Others believed that anti-Haaretz protestors had a right to voice their opposition to the paper’s choice of guest speakers, including myself. The amount of self-flagellation that some are willing to engage in, hoping that they will be accepted and tolerated by what is an inherently intolerable and intolerant group of so-called activists, was astonishing to see. I spoke ad nauseam about the criminality of the Israeli government, the behavior of individual Israeli soldiers and military units, the horrors perpetrated by Israeli settlers in the West Bank, and how that is entirely separate from the need to call out the fascism and evil perpetrated by an ISIS-like entity in Gaza, called Hamas, which has served the Palestinian people on a silver platter to Israel’s most far-right government in Israel’s history. I pleaded with the audience in different sessions to understand that Hamas is a core and central threat to the Palestinian people that is inseparable from the far-right in Israel and that must be thoroughly acknowledged by liberals, leftists, and social-justice voices and activists. Some were interested in what I had to share, while others were visibly hostile and resentful of my mere presence. What I do know is that I shared my lived experience, background, my story, that of my family, and my hopes and aspirations, in a way that made it clear how the entirety of my ethos and actions are motivated by a Palestinian-centric self-interested point of view and that no one has any right or ability to subject me to “authenticity” or “legitimacy” litmus tests, especially if their lived experiences is solely based on a diaspora one and if they are not Palestinian themselves.
Important point by @afalkhatib at the Haaretz Toronto conference: the single-minded focus on Israeli criminality in Gaza (while accurate) has led too many in the pro-Palestinian movement to lose sight that Hamas is also responsible.
