Why, thank you, @StuartHumphryes, for the early Christmas gift! I feel like a much more younger ghost.

Do yourself a favour, imagine yourself in @masseyhall, and play some of the Calypso King of the World, Mighty Sparrow. Rest well, good sir. 📸 Keith Beaty, 1996, via @torontolibrary

I am sure we can up with a dystopian remedy for that. We just need some actors to do a mash-up of their own experiences. But I fear it is beyond the budget of a single Torontonian ghost, and perhaps @MovieMayor as well!

Like choosing between my children! Overall, Abe Okpik made essential contributions to Canadian society ☑️, but Reginald Fessenden made it possible for the spoken word to be transmitted wirelessly! The story about him being the first DJ might be apocryphal, but ‘tis a good one.

An ok airport is an excellent assessment. Seldom the best; rarely the worst. But rumour has it Methuselah spent many of his 969 years waiting for an overnight bag at T1.
Am I the only person who thinks YYZ is an ok airport?

The portages of @Algonquin_PP - particularly those just over a mile long - are littered with the cuss words of many a descendant.
#OTD (Mon, Sep 21) 1908 at #AlgonquinPark: "Left Burnt Lake shelter house at 6 a.m. After a most delightful sail down Perley Lake & Petawawa River we arrived at Catfish Lake...pushed forward over long portage. Well, we sweat[ed] & I am afraid said cuss words a few times."

‘Tis the end of an era indeed. At one point, book and record stores seemed as plentiful as fire hydrants up and down Yonge!
I'm sad to see that ABC Books at 662 Yonge St. is closing. It was the last holdout from the days when Yonge from Bloor to Wellesley was popluated with a ton of used book/record/CD stores. Anyways they're having a 50% off sale. Worth a visit #toronto

Fair! It absolutely could not be the setting for a Hallmark Christmas movie set in the United States (however, it has portrayed itself!).

Perusing decades of Via Rail timetables is more sobering than a night in the gaol.
These may be small cuts, but decades of small cuts, a.k.a. revising schedules to 'better align service with passenger demand', has only perpetuated more decline and more cuts. Most Western European countries got off this illogical treadmill by the 1980s. Will Canada ever do so?
