Glass-Smith says an 18-year-old woman ran a red light and crashed into her near Paul Drive and the Southfield Freeway service drive. She says what followed was far worse. In July, Manatee deputies arrested him on a misdemeanor for obstructing an officer without violence while they were carrying out a court-ordered welfare check tied to concerns about his children, including firearms in the house. The practical problem is simpler: a man who gets arrested obstructing police, treats political events as stunts, and runs on rage is asking to represent other people.
