In 1936, Keynes famously wrote that paying people to dig holes and fill them back up would boost the economy. Meanwhile, French economist Bastiat was spinning in his grave, having warned a century earlier about the "broken window fallacy" - the illusion that destruction creates wealth. When New Deal programs put thousands to work building bridges to nowhere, Keynesians cheered the employment statistics. But they ignored what Bastiat called "the unseen" - the private investments never made, the businesses never started, the innovations never pursued because capital was diverted to government make-work. Today's politicians still invoke Keynesian magic, claiming every trillion in deficit spending creates prosperity. They see the government jobs, the infrastructure projects, the GDP bump. They don't see the entrepreneur who couldn't get a loan, the startup that never launched, or the future growth sacrificed for today's political theater.

In addition to losing our capacity for independent problem-solving, we are losing our ability to use language itself. The AI industry is altering the very meaning of words, inducing confusion and a pervasive "anything goes" mentality.

Examples: reasoning: pattern matching intelligence: next-token prediction agents: loops sandbox: wrapper scripts autonomous: hardcoded conditional logic & API retries memory: vector database search /RAG self-correction: prompt re-evaluations in a loop thinking: hidden COT tokens

architecture: JSON system prompt configuration knowledge: static training weights By stripping terms of their actual logic, the AI industry turns marketing hype into reality.
Grazie per questa riflessione. Mi piace l'idea della biblioteca come strumento di ricerca e non come cosa da mostrare.

AI simulates daily lives of sociopathic, privileged and clueless CEOs and top level managers. "Certainly, let me handle everything for you!" "You're so right, that's such an amazing observation!" "This wouldn't be possible without your wisdom and insights!"

Questi credono di essere quelli smart. Stanno impazzendo totalmente.
One reason the masses rebel against AI is that they correctly assess that AI is most useful to smart people (not them). AI shifts human work from execution to orchestration, and orchestration is more cognitively demanding. Smaller and smaller teams of smart people will be able to deliver more and more, while cognitively modest haters fade into irrelevance

This apathy towards code in social media is so concerning to me that I'm starting to believe people have developed serious psychosis using AI. Do me a favor and unsub/ pause your premium model for a week. Use qwen/gemma or some other local model & try to code something with it (even better: without AI) Anything easy, really. If you're struggling, don't you think you've atrophied a skill? Or do you seriously believe your way of thinking to abandon something so essential as merely reading code is healthy? It's similar to what addicts would do: bend reasoning / reality until it's "okay" to be an addict. "No, I can always stop". Even worse... pulling more people into this psychosis cult and encouraging terrible practices. Do your drugs alone please and leave the people be that still enjoy coding.

If your IDE, framework and DB are open source (as most are) you own it. You can absolutely also own your server (including the open source software stack running on it). Anything you donโ€™t own is ephemeral at best.

We don't own the IDEs, we don't own the hosting, we don't own the frameworks, we don't own the db engines, yet we've long since given up building any of those on our own. You're just having a hard time adapting, and that's OK.

Actually, come to think about it, academia is populated with wimps & gamma males good at taking tests but crippled with a total absence of imagination.
If you are good at scoring on IQ tests, but not particularly imaginative, AI is in the process of making you obsolete.

In C programming, do whatever the fuck you want.
In C programming, do not use: int, char, unsigned int, unsigned char... Please use: uint8_t, int8_t, int32_t, int64_t...

I skipped entirely that phase. I don't care about frameworks.
Remember when the biggest coding debate was React, Angular or Vue?
