Around 3 years ago, Kavita Kumari lost her husband after a long illness in Ramgarh, Jharkhand. She had 2 young children and a family to take care of.
Life was not easy. She even worked as a security guard for some time to support her family.
But Kavita had one dream, she wanted a govt job so that her children could have a better and more secure future.
So, she started preparing for the Home Guard recruitment.
Every morning, at around 4 AM, Kavita would get up and go out for running practice. She did not have sports shoes or tracksuit. But she kept running.
Then came the physical test.
Kavita arrived at the ground wearing a saree. And because she could not afford running shoes, she ran barefoot.
She had to complete 1600 metres within 10 minutes.
And what happened next surprised everyone.
Under the hot sun, wearing a saree and running barefoot, Kavita completed the 1600 metres in just 6 minutes.
She was not running for a medal. She was not running for fame. She was running for her children.
Sometimes, we think we need the perfect shoes, the perfect clothes, the perfect circumstances, or the perfect opportunity to start.
Kavita had none of those things. She simply had a goal and a reason to keep going.
For her, that race was much bigger than a physical test. It was a race against poverty, difficult circumstances, and an uncertain future.
Six minutes. One mother. Two children. And a reason stronger than every obstacle.
