Igual anda bastante bien.

Last night, my neighbor died while working underneath his car. He didn’t have jack stands, and the car fell on his chest. I went outside to the sound of his teenage daughters screaming and sobbing. Neighbors were desperately trying to lift the car while I tried to get the younger kids nearby away from what was happening. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but it was too late. It was heartbreaking. One moment, one safety precaution, can make the difference between going back inside to your family and never coming home. Please, if you’re working underneath a vehicle, use properly rated jack stands. Never trust a jack alone. His family’s lives changed forever last night. Please don’t take the risk.

At some point this performative scene worked out fine for Israel as people are NOT talking about UAE foretelling Israel about Oct 7th, nor about the hostage swap offer.
Extraordinary. Plane falls at 500 feet per second, rudder rips right off from stress, but no cabin disturbance of any kind. No lockers burst open, nobody thrown out of their seat, no drinks trolley thrown about. Passengers possessions all in place.

Gran frase.

The fact that people still care about 25 basis points is evidence that they don’t yet appreciate the depth of the fiscal dominance we are in. Anyway, have a nice weekend.

X bans @parodyjeffx after getting Grok to publically admit Israel carried out a genocide
Replying to @Parodyjeffx
Evidence of over 73,000 deaths (high civilian share from demographics and IDF data leaks), widespread destruction of homes, hospitals and infrastructure creating unlivable conditions, plus repeated Israeli official statements dehumanizing Palestinians as a group and calling for Gaza's elimination or mass emigration supports genocidal acts and intent as the most likely reading. Wartime targeting of Hamas and aid flows provide counter-context but do not erase the pattern.

If the majority of people in Birmingham decided they wanted Birmingham to become part of Pakistan would that mean Britain no longer had a legitimate claim to Birmingham? Or is there perhaps some more fundamental basis to territorial claims than the Self-Determination Doctrine?
Milei’s statement overnight tells us more about domestic politics in Argentina than it does about the Falkland Islands. The Falklands are British because Falkland Islanders choose to be British. Our commitment to the Falklands is absolute and unshakeable 🇬🇧 🇫🇰

Everyone knows real assets beat bonds in a hyperinflation. Fewer people know what the German state did about it afterward. In 1923, hyperinflation wiped out mortgage debt in Germany. A landlord who owed 100,000 marks in 1914 could clear it in 1923 for what was, in real terms, spare change. Property owners came out the other side holding their buildings free and clear. Bondholders and savers came out with nothing. The government noticed. In February 1924, three months after the Rentenmark stabilized the currency, Berlin passed the Third Emergency Tax Decree. It did two things. First, it "revalued" old mortgages at just 15% of their gold value (later 25%), so creditors got a sliver back and owners kept most of the windfall. Second, it created the Hauszinssteuer, the house-rent tax, on every residential building built before 1918. The rate was set as a share of the building's pre-war "peace rent," typically 20–40% depending on the state. The logic was explicit: the state saw a pool of unearned gain sitting in real estate, and it wanted it back. The tax was designed to replace the mortgage payments that had just disappeared. It also solved two other problems. The government was broke, and Germany had a severe housing shortage. A fixed share of the revenue was earmarked for subsidized construction. The results were dramatic. The Hauszinssteuer became one of the largest revenue sources of the entire Weimar period, bringing in around a billion Reichsmarks a year by the late 1920s. It financed the famous Weimar housing estates, including Bruno Taut's in Berlin and Ernst May's "New Frankfurt," and a large share of the roughly 2.5 million dwellings built between 1924 and 1931. Several of them are UNESCO sites today. Politically, it was poison. Many of the owners were small middle-class landlords. Some had never held a mortgage and got no windfall at all, but were taxed anyway. Landlord associations became a permanent lobby, and the grievance fed into the middle-class resentment the right wing, including the Nazis, exploited. Private rental investment collapsed, since the tax plus rent control left no margin. Brüning cut it in 1931 during the Depression and allowed owners to buy their way out. The Nazi government abolished it entirely in 1942–43 through a final lump-sum redemption. Nearly twenty years of clawback. The lesson for anyone treating farmland, timber, or real estate as a hedge against a sovereign debt crisis: the hedge worked. And then the state spent two decades taxing it away, with the political cover to do so precisely because the gain looked unearned.

This is what a defeated aircraft carrier looks like. The USS Abraham Lincoln arrived in Thailand, covered in rust and clearly visible fractures. It did not even have a working elevator for the planes. There are usually 4 of them. The planes are visible on deck, but should be in the hangar in the deck below. The carrier could not continue fighting against Iran. Tired and broken. Leaking toilets.

Chamath walked away with ~$750M in profits across his SPAC empire, while public investors lost an estimated ~$45B to $50B in peak market value across his 18 total deals. Out of 10 sponsored SPACs and 8 PIPEs, 4 dissolved, multiple went bankrupt (Proterra, Sunlight), and 5 of his 6 completed SPAC mergers dropped 50% to 98% below their $10 issue price.
Chamath says Silicon Valley lost what made it great and only cares about money now "Silicon Valley has completely lost what made it great. It was a place for weirdos, for people at the fringes, for people that really were idealistic. And it has become something that's far from that now. It is the equivalent of what Harvard used to be. It's a credentialing place." "When we came, we used to aspire to meet the Bill Campbells of the world, Mike Moritz, John Doerr. Those folks are gone. We used to aspire to work for Steve Jobs. He's not here." "And in that breach, all we have done is focused on making money in every single way that we can, hand over fist. And there's nothing wrong with that. Except now it’s at a point where we need to do a better job of acknowledging it and trying to do a little bit better.” “Every time we don't, and we're given a chance to be better, and we're not, the hatred builds, the animus builds. And that's what we're seeing now."
