This is exactly my thinking as a Democrat. I’ll vote blue no matter who. You could be a leftist, centrist, socialist, or corporatist.. I don’t care. I just want us to gain power and then we can sort out our differences. Republicans must be defeated. They are the biggest threat to our Democratic Republic. Purity politics that leave us powerless is just stupid. Let’s win first, then we can sort out the rest.

The moment you get genuinely clear about who you are, what you want, what you are willing to do to get it and what you are no longer willing to tolerate on the way there, everything changes. Clarity does not just help you move faster. It helps you stop wasting movement on things that were never going to take you where you actually needed to go.

You can do more for yourself in one year of radical honesty, genuine discipline and intentional growth than you might have done in years of staying comfortable, playing it safe and waiting for the right moment to arrive. One year of actually doing the things you keep saying you are going to do. One year of having the conversations you have been avoiding. One year of showing up for your own goals with the same consistency you show up for everything and everyone else. The difference that kind of year can make is not always incremental. Sometimes it can be transformational. But it starts with a decision to finally take yourself seriously enough to stop waiting and find out what you are capable of when your actions finally begin matching your intentions.

Imagine the amount of propaganda it took to convince millions of people that healthcare, food assistance, social programs, clean water, clean air, good wages, housing, equal rights, diversity and a healthy planet for all people was somehow a threat to America and to Christianity.

The richest man in the world is a drug-addicted white supremacist who believes in Nazi-era eugenics pseudoscience. While the world’s most powerful man is a convicted criminal and suspected pedophile. We live in the darkest times ever.

MAGA is a white supremacist movement.

As long as you have fascist Republican judges in high places, Democracy doesn’t stand a chance in America. Democrats need to pack the Supreme Court in Virginia. They have a large enough majority in the state legislature to do this.

Something I know (but still underestimate): Your environment shapes your entire reality. The people you surround yourself with determine your outcomes. Surround yourself with people who are constantly talking about the past, you'll be stuck in it. Surround yourself with people thinking big about the future, you'll build a bright one. Spend time with people who encourage you to think bigger. Who believe you’re capable of more. A person is either holding you back or pushing you forward. There is no in between.

Unsurprisingly, last night, I was reminded (yet again) that being a Young, Black and Educated woman is seen as somewhat of a crime or a revolutionary act. For context… I posted this little video online two days ago sharing how excited I am to walk the stage and collect my doctorate degree. According to these replies how dare I want to have multiple degree without having a husband?? How dare I think I can take up space at places like Oxford and Harvard? Or God forbid I earn a PhD degree?? What’s so wrong about me doing that?😭🙆🏾‍♀️ These reactions are still the very reason why I’m sooooo vocal about loving studying and education advocacy as a Black girl - because the world STILLLLLL struggles to accept our capabilities & brilliance. Representation truly MATTERS, and I hope my graduation pictures and videos keep inspiring young girls, especially young Black girls, to own their abilities, passions, and intelligence. I hope there a THOUSAND more Dr’s waiting to walk the stage in the next few years !! I’ll certainly be cheering them on💛✨
