The left deserves to take a huge “I Told You So” victory lap, but remarkable that Neera, @Lis_Smith, @mattyglesias, and the Bulwark guys all seem genuinely aghast by Stevens’s betrayal They are not acting like they secretly want Abdul to lose to advance their factional project.
Standing with Miker Rogers is a betrayal of everything Haley Stevens has fought for her entire career. It's also a betrayal of all of her supporters that believed in her. I hope @AbdulElSayed has a strong victory on Tuesday and that all Democrats and like-minded independents support vote for him.

A related dynamic: Because the shift is happening fast, and because experienced local reporters are used to the status quo, Cuomo/Stevens types get media coverage that is wildly disproportionate to the size of the voters coalitions they represent.
As the Left wins more primaries, there will be more Andrew Cuomo (third party campaigns from the center in deep-blue districts) and Haley Stevens (cynical sabotage in purple states) situations. Nor were Cuomo and Stevens alone, plenty of institutional actors in the Democratic Party enabled them.

I spoke with @ghostrunnerblog about the imperative of criminal legal system reform and the politics of the NY Attorney General race. Listen at the link below.

These are the kinds of issues would be central to the campaigns and policy agendas of NY progressives. Earlier this month, I wrote about how most of them have moved on, so it was interesting to hear from an incoming state rep who hasn't! ghostrunnerblog.com/p/zohran…

The transcript made this moment seem more dramatic, but it's still jarring to hear Hochul justify keeping Tisch purely on coalitional terms ("Jewish," "from a successful family"). Nothing about police policy or Tisch's supposedly unparalleled management skills.
Gov. Kathy Hochul said it was “important” Jessica Tisch remained NYPD commissioner, even discussing it with Mamdani before she endorsed him. “She knows her role is important,” Hochul told our @jmart. “He knows her role is important.” 🔗 politi.co/4ij6szh

In my blog two weeks ago, I criticized the left for letting Tisch become a symbol for Israel/Palestine rather than delving into the minutiae of criminal legal reform. But it seems like Hochul sees it the same way! ghostrunnerblog.com/p/zohran…

Can’t imagine Adams’s name recognition is sky-high in Peekskill but she’s bringing a lot of energy … as she reads out Cait’s campaign website verbatim: “Cait’s campaign platform says that her top issues include…”

Tish says she’s totally neutral on Trump. No political opinions, no personal feelings, just calling balls and strikes and dispassionately applying the law.

The most interesting part of Bad Blood is the last third, when Carreyrou abandons his "objective stenographer" perspective and inserts himself directly into the story as one of the main protagonists. In a way, he's just as subjective and compromised as Fielder and AS.
Did Elizabeth Holmes coming after me and my sources with everything she had and threatening to sue us out of existence bias me? Yes.

Komatireddy clearly wants to return to pre-2019, when prosecutors had virtually unlimited ability to detain accused people pretrial on Rikers for months or even years. She sees the entire prosecutorial reform movement (bail and discovery reform, more diversion) as a mistake.

It will be interesting to see whether voters agree with her! At the time, there were some pretty compelling and popular reasons motivating the 2019 reforms. newyorker.com/magazine/2014/…
