I miss the way college sports used to be. I miss the Bobby Bowden era.
Back then, a football coach had to feel like a father figure. Moms and dads needed to believe the man on the sideline would help raise their sons, not just recruit them. The money was not on display. Players stayed. They became a team over three or four years, not a roster assembled for one season.
That loyalty is gone. The highest bidder wins. Chemistry is an afterthought. The @NCAA has failed.

I think that the Republicans wanna say that they’re hurting our party right now. I just think the Democrats have to say to them, you’re welcome if you think you wanna reduce costs, you wanna focus on good government service, you want government to be more efficient, you want to give people opportunity. You want good jobs, you want good health care. But if you’re gonna go to the crazy side, which is what the platform does, they gotta go somewhere else. They can run in their own primaries. I mean, that’d be fine. They can go do whatever, but they’re not Democrats.
