Senior Houthi official Mohammed al-Bukhaiti has welcomed potential mediation by Pakistan and Türkiye to end the conflict between Yemen's Ansarallah movement and Saudi Arabia, despite previously threatening military action against both countries if they became involved in the fighting.
Speaking in an interview broadcast by Al-Araby TV, al-Bukhaiti said the Houthis were open to diplomatic efforts involving regional powers.
“We welcome any mediation, whether Iranian, Omani, or even Turkish or Pakistani,” he said.
Al-Bukhaiti, a member of Ansarallah's political bureau and governor of Yemen's Dhamar province, argued that ending the conflict and associated blockades would serve the interests of both Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
His remarks contrast with comments attributed to him during an earlier interview with the Iraqi television programme Another Reading, in which he threatened Türkiye and Pakistan if they joined Saudi-led military operations against Yemen.
“By God, if Türkiye and Pakistan become involved, we will strike them with an iron fist,” he said, warning that the Houthis would teach both countries a lesson if they joined what he described as Saudi aggression.
