Dr. Ben and the others were finally released yesterday after intense pressure, persistent intervention, and a determined pushback from people who refused to be intimidated or silenced.
Against all odds, against the weight of the system, and against every attempt to make injustice appear normal, people stood together and demanded that the right thing be done.
Their release is a reminder that when citizens refuse to surrender to fear, when leaders speak up, and when people stand together, even a seemingly immovable system can be challenged.
But let us be clear, freedom should never require this level of pressure. No citizen should have to depend on extraordinary intervention to secure a basic right.
Yesterday, they walked free. For that, we are grateful to everyone who stood up, made calls, intervened, pushed back, and refused to look away.
