I am very angry and extremely disappointed that a person was shot on the streets of Austin by ICE. While I’m angry and disappointed, I’m not surprised. This has happened in other cities. With the rogue nature of ICE and the chaos we’re seeing fomented by ICE, there’s no reason to be surprised. Austinites have a right to know what happened and they have a right to feel safe in their community. Though APD was not involved in the shooting, I believe that there needs to be an investigation that APD assures is clear-eyed, as complete as possible, and independent. I’ve discussed this with Chief Davis. Chief Davis deployed APD’s Special Investigation Unit and the Unit has been on scene this afternoon. This is the same unit that investigates Austin’s officer involved shootings. Chief Davis has also been in contact with the Texas Rangers and has asked the Rangers to assist in an investigation. This participation with the Texas Rangers will be important due to the access the Texas Department of Public Safety had early in the incident. As the city continues to receive more information, we will make sure to keep the community aware.

A Massachusetts family says the state took custody of their teenage daughter after they refused to affirm her as a boy, citing their Catholic faith. The parents allege a school counselor socially transitioned their daughter without their knowledge, then reported them to the Department of Children and Families. Now the state has guardianship, and a restraining order prevents the teen's parents and older brother from contacting her. I feel that the 25th anniversary of 9/11 has caused a critical mass of Americans to reach an inflection point on their understanding of that event. We are starting to realize that we lost the Global War on Terror. We did not lose it on military grounds. We lost it on spiritual grounds. Domestically we are succumbing to the goals of Sharia and jihad, which was EXACTLY what the 9/11 terrorists sought to bring about with their heinous actions. Now that more and more people are seeing this, we can combat it--not with tanks and bombs and rifles alone, but with our words, voices and votes. We must actively combat the Islamification of America. Sharia and jihad are wholly incompatible with the Constitution. Islam is a political movement hiding beneath the cover of freedom of religion. When a "religion" itself is not free, it is no longer a religion and no longer enjoys the protections the Constitution affords. Spread the word.

A baby's death shortly after birth is a tragedy. (Ruptured spleen sounds like a perinatal event.) To use this tragedy misleadingly in a press conference & news coverage to promote vaccination & to describe the dead baby as "unvaccinated" is indefensible. The mistake should be corrected by the governor & media outlets immediately.
