THE FED IS WORKING ON A PLAN THAT COULD SET OFF A WAVE OF BANK M&A
The Fed is reportedly preparing to raise the asset thresholds that trigger stricter oversight, adjusting them for inflation and economic growth for the first time since 2019.
Current rules kick in tougher requirements at $100 billion in assets, then again at $250 billion and $700 billion.
The Fed is looking to push the top threshold toward $1 trillion and the lower one toward $150 billion.
