I was surprised how bad it was just walking from the hotel to the Rails World venue. One strung-out guy wanted to fight me for some reason, another was swinging wildly and swearing profusely. Lots of zombie vibes too. Whatever Austin is doing, it's not working.

@FwoiblesWoW Why is character naming such a point of control? You see a virtual character walk by with a stupid name in a game, just allow players to block seeing the offensive name instead of changing the infinitely creative source of naming. Mute, don't block.

Kotlin because the JVM gives you the most proven breadth to choose from, everyone else is still catching up. Native speed, smoother language, better ecosystem.

the opencode server protocol is at the core of everything we do
it allows for custom frontends like OpenChamber to exist and be quite rich and polished experiences

Kinda funny phrasing, you are mostly "performative outrage" or "performative surprise" or "performative delight" or "performative drama" ... I know, it is the harrassment/threat mostly driving your response (but I think not all).
The "performative" whatever is probably why people watch you, they like the dynamics. I don't think non-followers "not liking you" does anything.
I actually hate that I am torn. I click on enough of your videos, at the same time NOT wanting to click on your videos. It's like "what IF there is something useful in here" because you are out the door early on topics.
Then later I stopped finding that anything held up for more than a few weeks (or now, days, with AI). The clicking has dwindled, I am now at peace.

I knew you and other like you would change the narrative once a few years passed, which is why I made the timeline and video while those events were still relatively fresh. You may fool people who are ignorant of what has happened. But you have created quite the persona over the years.

At a previous company they were considering new engineering levels, and how to define each. Instead of 10 traits for each level, I defined mine by "how much time do I trust the developer to code before I look in on them?" Junior? twice a day. Intermediate? every other day. Low Senior? 3 days. Senior? 5-7 days. Super senior? 10-14 days. Principle? they'll call me.
AI doesn't change this.
the interesting thing about this is that i strongly believe that for all genuine software engineering use cases the trend for long-running loop that builds shit from a spec will collapse in a heap of fail within 12 months. that's a heap of extremely painful fail for anybody doing this in a serious work situation.
the truth is that attended and guided development is accelerated enough already for the use of llms to transform our industry. it raises the bar for software engineering skills back to what it i used to be.
now i'm not saying that lode coding is the future. neither is Coati. but what i am saying is that when the industry settles on its mature choice, you will be able to draw a line from whatever that looks like back to lode coding and its cousins. you won't be able to draw a line back to all the long running unattended whackamole folly we are wasting our time on right now.
the future is already here in the form of those "not good enough for the whackamole" trend models. they are perfectly fine for AI-first skilled development.
and some of them can be run locally if you really want to waste your money on short-lived expensive hardware today.
i predict a rise of improvements from the big AI tool vendors that reintroduces code visibility, design control, iterative conversational planning, amplifies cognitive ownership, and returns control to engineers while continuing to leverage the truly revolutionary value proposition of AI-first development.
