16 months of work, now published.
Today is a milestone for Eli5a and for everyone who has supported the work behind it.
Our study is now published in Cancers. What is Cancers?
ELI5: "Think of it like food. The top journals are 3-Star Michelin restaurants. Cancers is like earning a solid 1-Star Michelin rating or getting a glowing feature in a major city food guide. It means elite food critics (other top scientists) tasted your food, rigorously inspected your kitchen, and told the world: 'This place is legitimate and excellent.'
Here is the result: Eli5a achieved the highest understandability and readability scores in a comparison with ChatGPT, Claude , Perplexity and Doximity, for information about paediatric oral conditions and rare head-and-neck tumours.
That matters because our goal has never been to make complex information sound more impressive.
It is to make it understandable.
For this community, the announcement is about more than a publication certificate. It gives us a specific result that people can examine, question and discuss.
A roadmap tells people what we intend to build. We also want to give them evidence they can inspect.
Why build for this problem?
Because a family should not need a medical degree to understand the information they are given.
That is the purpose behind the work. Our ambition is to turn that purpose into tools people find genuinely useful.
We are proud of the milestone without pretending the work is finished. Our responsibility now is to keep improving the technology and demonstrate where it can be useful in practice.
To everyone who has stayed with us through these 16 months: thank you.
Now help us get the work seen. Read the paper. Share the finding. Put it in front of people who care about useful AI and better communication.
