Very happy to introduce a new fungus to the world, Endoantria benetecta, which represents not only a new species but a new genus of ascomycetes. It is special as it has only been found in temperate rainforests in Scotland and Wales. It's a super interesting fungus: here's why 1/

I got my first car ever today (spoiler alert: I don’t drive 🫣😂). For my family in Cuba, this is probably a bigger achievement than any award I’ve ever received! 😂

Happy to share our latest pre-print on the evolution of TIR-mediated immunity in plants. Led by @E_B_Kennedy and @Khongsam_Chia from our lab @JohnInnesCentre with a big assist from @mhz1989 and @jonathandgjones @TheSainsburyLab. Check out El's twitter thread below:
Extremely excited to share the first pre-print from my PhD project in the Carella lab, co-first authored with @Khongsam_Chia 🎉 biorxiv.org/content/10.64898… We investigated the EDS1-dependence of TIR domains from across the spectrum of land plant evolution, and found that TIR-NLR architecture itself can influence TIR domain activity, even for animal and bacterial TIRs. Huge thanks to all co-authors and the #CarellaCapybaras for all the support 😊 Thread below ⬇️

My photo vs AI SLOP! You CANT tell the difference anymore! 😤 It is so SUFFOCATING to watch social media be filled with deceptive AI that is drawing attention away from real photographers and REAL stories trying to be told about wildlife! It is so DANGEROUS for conservation! 🕷️

The disrespect for scientists these days is shocking. I made the news for photographing an extremely rare spider in the jungles of PNG and the comments are just full of dismissive people. What has happened to having respect for experts in their field?
