Strongly disagree… The quickest way to release an addiction is to change your identity NOT your behavior. Most people start at the behavior level which is why they fail. “I’m the type of person who…” …Values my health and wants to be here for my children When I used to drink in my 20s I tried for the longest time to stop. But my desire to drink was stronger than my will to not drink. If you make it a test of will you will lose every time. Instead I simply decided that I was no longer going to do things that made me less and only going to do things that made me more. Then it became binary…. Does this activity make me more more or less? I simply became a person who no longer drank. Another thing that can be helpful is to claim the new action / way of being for only a single day. While you may not be able to say “I’m not going to drink for the rest of my life” … in fact such a statement maybe so overwhelming you don’t even start. Instead you can say “today won’t be the day” And then one day you will wake up and find you can say with the same conviction “…and tomorrow won’t be either” Finally there is no “process” to changing. There is nothing to overcome. Change happens in an instant. In fact, it’s popular these days to hear people say they are “processing” some experience that happened in the past. (Often over 20 years ago). And to that I say “how’s that going for you” It is not through effort or exertion or analysis that we become free of the past it is simply by letting go. How long does that take. A single moment. Release the behavior. Release the story. Release the version of yourself that continues to make the same choices. Make a decision to be more and not less. Have a compelling vision for the future. Let it go and move forward from this new place. You got this!

How to actually quit an addiction: - Map your use: when, how much, what triggers it - Find places you never use, build on what already works - Remove easy access: if it's in the cabinet, it has to go - Learn the social skills you were using the habit for - Join a group of people making the same change @KeithNHumphreys on @hubermanlab

You can literally hack your own mind and reprogram it for success.
Shopify billionaire co-founder & CEO Tobi Lütke — one of the most analytically rigorous founders alive — uses affirmations. His exact words: "If you tell yourself or write down something about yourself 100 times, it writes into the neurofrontal cortex at such a deep level that your brain will start reconciling you to that. It just works." His personal example: He was terrified of public speaking. For one week he sat down every day for 10 minutes and wrote: "I love public speaking." A week later the fear was gone. "It's not like a placebo. You just actively change your neurofrontal cortex in this moment." Your brain starts shaping your behavior around the identity you rehearse most.

They typically declassify things like this because they’ve found MORE powerful tools
the CIA once hired a magician to teach agents sleight of hand, secret signals, and deception years later, they destroyed every copy... or so they thought one survived, resurfaced decades later, and was eventually declassified: a rare remnant of MKUltra that escaped the purge

Is it possible to hypnotize someone to commit murder?? “Conspiracy theorists” have claimed for decades that the CIA has hypnotized unsuspecting candidates to carry out assassinations. In fact, the current head of HHS @robertfkennedyjr claims his own father was killed by a mind-controlled puppet working for the deep state. The gunman, Sirhan Sirhan, has maintained for decades that he has no memory of the events surrounding the assassination. More recent events involving Trump’s would-be assassin and Charlie Kirk’s killer call into question how an ordinary citizen could be radicalized enough to commit murder. I teamed up with a former CIA officer (@everydayspy) to conduct a controlled experiment to see if we could hypnotize a member of the general public to commit murder in 48 hours. While that might sound crazy, the results were even crazier...

Magician, Max Major, has this guy shake a bottle of Coke until it’s about to explode. He holds it and somehow ‘transfers’ the energy to a wine bottle no one touched, popping the cork and sending it fizzing.
