The greatest is about to go down!

Ukraine
Today, on the eve of Pokrova – the Day of Defenders of Ukraine – it is an honor for me to be here, to present you with state awards and, of course, to thank all of you for defending our country and protecting it, for holding the front firmly, and for carrying out our active operations. In the fifth year of the full-scale war, Russia looks very different on the front from what it wanted to look – and this is solely thanks to you, thanks to the determination of our troops, the training of our warriors, and the well-planned operations of our army – of Ukraine’s Defense and Security Forces. We are doing everything to defend our state. We strike back at the aggressor. We are developing new weapons and fighting for new support from our partners. But all of this holds because the front is strong, because it has not been broken, because our corps and brigades are active and strong, and because our people are fighting for Ukraine. I want to thank you for your courage, for your skill. Thank you for Ukraine. And, of course, we always honor the fallen heroes of our state, whose courage and bravery gave us the chance to live and preserved our state.

Work to address the aftermath of Russian strikes in our cities and communities is continuing virtually nonstop. They are simply terrorists targeting life, our people, and purely civilian sites – day and night. In Kyiv, the depot at Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi railway station, data centers, business centers, and residential buildings were damaged. In the Odesa region, the strikes hit an educational institution, a dormitory, and two foreign vessels. The Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, Volyn, and Rivne regions also came under Russian attack last night. Energy facilities, substations, civilian businesses, and residential buildings were damaged. There were successful interceptions last night, including of ballistic missiles. Thank you to everyone involved in our defense and to everyone who honors our agreements. I am grateful to our American and Norwegian partners for the NASAMS system and the package of missiles for it. I am grateful to France and Germany for the air defense support package provided in recent days, specifically the missiles. Against the backdrop of Russia’s daily escalation, it is important that the protection of life receive continuous support and that such packages continue to arrive. Thank you to everyone who is helping.

A Russian strike against the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. A rescue operation is underway: crews are putting out the fire and searching for people who may have been trapped inside. All services are deployed. Today in Kyiv, a pharmaceutical company and gas stations were also attacked; in Dnipro, a business center; and in other cities and regions, civilian facilities, businesses, and communications infrastructure were targeted as well. Sadly, people have been killed… My condolences to their families and loved ones. Russia will definitely face a response to this. And every one of Ukraine’s partners must see from this terror, from these strikes, that supporting Ukraine means truly supporting people’s lives – supporting the principle that terror must never be normalized, anywhere. Russia must be held accountable for all of this and face real consequences. I thank everyone who helps Ukraine!

Russia has been attacking our regions throughout the night and into the morning. In Kharkiv, there was a brutal strike on a high-rise apartment building, with the second and fourth floors partially destroyed. Kyiv has also sustained damage from drone attacks – residential buildings, communications infrastructure, and gas stations. They wrecked an ordinary café and tried to burn down a food market in the capital. In the Odesa region, a vessel flying the Palau flag was struck. In the Zhytomyr region, an ordinary ice cream factory was damaged. Residential buildings were hit in the Sumy, Rivne, Kharkiv, and Odesa regions. Critical infrastructure was attacked in the Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Emergency services are working wherever they are needed. As of now, dozens of people have been reported injured. The strike on Kharkiv alone resulted in 28 people being injured, including nine children. Tragically, lives have been lost. Two people were killed in the Kyiv region, one of them a citizen of Azerbaijan. My condolences to their families and loved ones. I thank everyone who is not staying silent about what is happening in Ukraine, and everyone who is preparing concrete support packages for our country. Clear decisions are needed. Air defenses, energy support, and help covering budget gaps – these are the things that are genuinely strengthening Ukraine today and helping our people endure. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

This past week, the Russians launched more than 2,200 attack drones against Ukraine, as well as around 1,650 aerial bombs and 38 missiles of various types, a significant number of them ballistic missiles. And last night, tragically, there were people killed as a result of Russian strikes. Three people were killed in the Zaporizhzhia region as a result of the attacks. In Kyiv, a man was killed by a drone strike. My condolences to the families and loved ones… Residential buildings, energy infrastructure, and other civilian infrastructure in the Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Poltava, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv regions came under attack overnight. In the morning, the Russians struck a data center in Kyiv twice. Three people were injured in the first strike, including two children. We are constantly working with Europeans, America, Canada, Japan, Australia, and other partners to strengthen our defense and advance real diplomacy. But unfortunately, what is lacking is a consistently strong position from China and India, Brazil and South Africa, the G20 countries, and the Global South. In fact, each of these countries has influence over Russia and can help make peace a reality. Building guaranteed and dignified security here in Ukraine means bolstering security and stability globally. I thank everyone who does not stand aside and helps Ukraine.

Fourteen people were injured in Russian attacks last night alone. There were numerous strikes on residential homes in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and the Odesa, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions. Sadly, two people were killed in Zaporizhzhia. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Civilian infrastructure was also damaged: a kindergarten in Kyiv, a lyceum in the Kyiv region, a university in Kharkiv, and energy infrastructure in the Poltava, Mykolaiv, and Vinnytsia regions. It is essential that our partners not forget: Russia is escalating every single day. If the Russians have chosen to make their strikes even more brutal, the world must choose stronger responses to keep the war from spreading further. We ask President Trump to implement the Lindsey Graham Act against Russia and everyone who props up its war financially. We ask Presidents António Costa and Ursula von der Leyen to impose additional European sanctions. We ask all leaders not to remove Russian oligarchs from existing sanctions lists and to continue restricting all trade with the terrorists until Russia stops the war. It is this way – through our joint efforts every day – that peace must be brought closer.

A massive attack on Moscow and Moscow region. An oil refinery in Kapotnya and a warehouse complex in Sofyino were struck. The refinery can process around 11 million tonnes of oil a year and supplies a significant share of Moscow’s fuel market.

Today, I met with young people from the countries of the Carpathian Eight. They are currently in Ukraine, in our Ivano-Frankivsk region. This is very important because the Carpathian Initiative is about the future and development, and that means young people above all. And we are designing our integration projects, including the C8, with the future of young Ukrainians in mind. We discussed Ukraine’s relations with the countries of the Carpathian macro-region and the importance of unity among us, as well as the conditions for returning home from abroad and housing support programs. I expect the Cabinet of Ministers to step up communication about all the government programs that offer favorable terms for buying a home. We need to fight to keep our young people in Ukraine while encouraging people from other countries to come here and help us rebuild and create. Thank you for the conversation!

It is symbolic that the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Lindsey Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act on the night of yet another Russian attack on Ukraine with ballistic and other missiles and drones. Once again, civilian infrastructure was targeted, with damage reported in eight regions. The Russians struck energy infrastructure in the Sumy and Odesa regions. In Kyiv and Odesa, ordinary residential buildings were hit. More than 10 people were injured, including children. Some were hospitalized. There were fires in many communities. The Lindsey Graham bill, along with other strong sanctions steps by our partners against the source of this war – against Russia – is an extremely powerful tool that can stop this terrorist war and bring Russia to the point where it has to make peace. Sanctions must be strong so that all efforts for peace – including our joint diplomatic efforts with the United States, Europe, and our other friends – can succeed. I thank the members of the House of Representatives, senators, and leaders of the U.S. Congress for supporting this legislation. Russia needs to end this war.

Russian drone attacks continue throughout the day today, and “shaheds” are still in the sky right now. Nearly 500 attack drones have already been launched since morning. Essentially, the Russians have expanded this war from the front lines, where they cannot achieve success, into the economy, and their tactics are as primitive as they get – destroying every facility that can help people withstand the conditions of war. The Russians are burning warehouses with food and gas stations, pharmaceutical facilities and ordinary passenger trains, residential buildings and civilian businesses… Just in the past few days, they have struck a steel plant owned by an Indian business, an American company that produced sunflower oil, and a Polish company that manufactured plumbing fixtures. Russian attacks have targeted truck parking lots, ports, shopping malls, and energy infrastructure. Russia wants to kill the Ukrainian economy and, through that, break our resistance. And it is important that these Russian strikes be met not only with justified responses, but also with the necessary moral and political condemnation from our partners. (1/3)

On my way to Canada, I met with Iceland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, @thorgkatrin. We discussed Ukraine’s preparations for the winter, the protection of our energy sector, and strengthening our air defense. We count on continued cooperation and Iceland’s contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. The assistance provided earlier is already yielding concrete results, and we are grateful for that. We also discussed cooperation in the technology and defense sectors, where Ukraine is ready to share its experience with partners. I am grateful to Iceland for its support.

Arrived in Canada. Canada has been and remains one of our closest partners. We value all the support from Canadians and the decisions that help Ukraine stand strong and protect our people. Important meetings and agreements are planned that will shape our cooperation and solidify the already strategic level of our relationship for years to come. I will meet with Prime Minister @MarkJCarney. The main focus will be on supporting Ukraine in protecting our skies and preparing for the winter. We will discuss how to strengthen our resilience, support our people, and ensure that Ukraine has the capabilities it needs to defend itself. The First Lady has a meeting planned with philanthropists who support Ukraine. She will also visit Canadian equivalents of Ukraine’s “Schools of Superheroes.” Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine.

This morning in Kyiv, a Russian drone struck an apartment building. Four people were injured. As always, our rescuers responded swiftly, and the fire has now been extinguished. Last night in the Odesa region, the international Starokozache border crossing with Moldova was hit. Operations there have been suspended. Tragically, two people were killed and three others were injured. Sixteen people were evacuated by rescuers. My condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. Efforts are also underway to deal with the aftermath of the Russian attack in the Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv regions. Unfortunately, there has been too little response from the international community to these strikes, which are taking people’s lives practically every day. But a response is needed – Moscow must not go into the winter believing that it can get away with missile and drone terror without consequences. The aggression must be stopped here and now, before it spreads any further. And it is important that sanctions and support for Ukraine work effectively toward this goal. The partners who can help know exactly what is needed every day. And I thank everyone who is helping to the best of their ability.

We are responding to Russia’s daily terrorist strikes – effectively and practically across its entire map. Over the past 24 hours, there have been results in Novorossiysk, in the Krasnodar region. A naval base was hit, including a terminal used to load oil, military port facilities, and warships carrying Kalibr missiles. I thank the warriors of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Ukrainian Navy, Defense Intelligence, and the State Border Guard Service for their precision. I thank everyone developing our long-range sanctions capabilities, so that Russia’s war is increasingly felt where it came from.

Olena @ZelenskaUA and I landed in Norway. We have important engagements ahead. Tomorrow, on behalf of all our people, we will express our gratitude to Norway at the farewell ceremony for His Majesty King Harald V. Today, I will also meet with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. We will discuss continued support for Ukraine. The main issue is strengthening air defense and assistance in other areas that are important for getting through the winter. Naturally, Jonas and I will also meet with the companies developing the FREYJA anti-ballistic system. Thank you to everyone who is helping Ukraine.
