I’ll die on this hill: Tesla’s biggest mistake has been refusing to market the cars and open them up to journalists. They never educated reviewers on the product, especially the ICE-enthusiast crowd.
This SVG review of the Model Y L proves the point. If the product is this good, spend a little money and let respected reviewers take an honest stab at it.

Checked out the new Rivian R2 at the Palo Alto block party today. A lot of thoughts. Going to list a thread of thoughts compared to a car I know well the Tesla Model Y. Only the performance variant was available for show.

LEGROOM: it’s great for a 5’7” male like me. For a car of this length they really stretched the wheel base to maximize legroom. I think two rear facing car seats would easily fit. I think the model Y has slightly less, but not sure the normal person would notice. Overall, 8/10.

FRUNK: It’s wide and deep enough to be a practical go-to space for parents — perfect for quickly tossing in dirty shoes, sports balls, or whatever else gets picked up at the playground. While I’d love full automatic opening and closing, the auto-open with soft-close is still a solid win compared to the Model Y. Overall, it’s an excellent frunk for the size of the vehicle. 8.5/10.

TRUNK: I expected the Rivian’s trunk to be noticeably bigger than the Model Y’s thanks to its squared-off design. Surprisingly, it feels roughly the same size, or even a bit smaller in practical use. The sub-trunk is oddly shaped — long and narrow instead of wide and deep like the Model Y’s. All in all, it earns a 7/10 from me.

INTERIOR: The interior is well-designed and feels solidly built. Rivian uses a nice variety of materials throughout, including fabric, wood, mesh, leather, and plastic. It’s clearly a deliberate design choice by the Rivian team, but the cabin feels less plush and comfortable compared to the Model Y AWD Premium. There’s also more exposed plastic than I expected. Overall, it’s still a very nice interior. (7/10)
