The Paramount-Warner Bros. merger now has the all-clear signal, and staffers are gearing up for multiple rounds of layoffs in the next few months.
“There will be a race to get this done in the fourth quarter,” said one exec, noting that the job cuts would likely be just the first round, as it would be impossible to accomplish the level of expected layoffs all in one swoop.
Said another: “I don’t see a world where they’re not laying off a bunch of people before the end of the year. I think there are many people in the industry who don’t even understand the toll it’s going to take.”

The worst part of Bonta caving on the Paramount merger is that it's a big flashing signal to every other company that there is no antitrust enforcement in America and you can bully your way into getting whatever you want. It's a monumentally bad decision.

Threatening to leave is textbook for corporations not getting their way, from Amazon to Boeing to Mayo Clinic, and more.
This was an attempt by David Ellison to get what he wanted through economic extortion rather than the rule of law and Bonta let him do it.

David Zaslav, the CEO and President of Warner Bros., has been completely ignored in all of this. He is as responsible as anyone for Paramount-WB, and WB-Discovery before it.
He gets *$550M* for closing this deal. The States could have ordered that down to zero, drawing a line in the sand: No compensation for illegal dealmaking.

this merger would still be devastating for Hollywood workers at every level and for creative variety
That's why the Writers Guild sued to block the merger

For years, air purifier companies have hyped H13 filters and fed consumers the wrong idea that the higher the filter grade, the better, so they could sell their mediocre air purifiers at a premium. But they knew full well that wasn’t true. That’s why what they used in their own products wasn’t H13-grade filters, but lower-grade filters that could provide higher CADR. Now they’ve been caught. Every lie ultimately comes back to hurt the liar.
turns out levoit filters are not real hepa filters. why am i not surprised the payout for exposing us all to air pollution and airborne illness is only $10?
