I bumped into a teacher I know while walking our dogs. She teaches grade 8 French and said teachers are discouraged from giving tests in elementary school. They cannot give marks except on report cards, as the principal wants all kids treated the same so none feel bad about marks. I’m unsure if this is just the school or mandated by the board. What are we doing to this generation? How will this help kids long-term?

Homecoming at my son’s university last weekend was a total shit show. SWAT was called in and used pepper spray on students. Near the university, two kids climbed the building wall and fell three stories. Kids stood on the roof, throwing bricks and metal water bottles onto people’s heads. At least 35 kids ended up in the hospital. I saw two kids beaten up just outside a McDonald’s near the university that night. What the hell has happened in this country? This is in a small town, it’s not even in a big city. Canada has lost its way.
