Let me be blunt. Those who are afraid of AI feel deep down that they are impostors & have no edge. If you have a 1) clear mind, 2) a deep, not just cosmetic, undertanding of your specialty, 3) and/or are original enough to reinvent yourself when needed, AI will be your friend.

Actual progress comes from hard-to-build technology. Which comes from competitive, creative, free-market capitalism. Which comes from one small, precarious area and then diffuses to the rest of the world. Snuff that out, and it’s global stagnation for an extremely long time.

3x unnecessary height of the input area makes me want to 😭

Pretty wild how many arm injuries are downstream of a weak grip. Ever since strengthening my grip carpal tunnel, golfers and tennis elbow now gone

This took me back to the Bret Victor days in how he goes through layers of abstraction to explain something. Beautiful youtu.be/gs38tMxZseA?is=4phc…

One of the things I miss of coding by hand was listening to music for hours on end. Now it’s just my own voice to text

I’m not. Will use SpaceX cold gas thruster system with ultra high pressure air in a composite over-wrapped pressure vessel in place of the 2 rear seats.

on a related note, there's been some chatter recently about software engineering skills (eg the ruby/rust/elixir drama). i'm a bit torn because while i do feel like they're software engineering principles and patterns are still important, at the same time i wonder if there will come a point in time when they just won't matter anymore. not that they're no longer useful, but that your own intuition can fill in the gaps as you use agents in an intuitive sense rather than knowing explicitly what they're doing if that doesn't make sense, the analogy i have is the first iphone. 20 years ago you had to be a professional with expensive equipment, now just with a phone and some creativity you can film content that's compelling to a new audience. i don't know if there's a term for this but i want to call it "skill compression". where what used to be gatekept and prohibitive to experts becomes accessible to a new audience of creators with a whole new meta. the details have sort of faded away and now the craft is not in knowing the equipment and how to use it, but how you use it creatively we're going to see a whole new generation of builders who've never seen or written a line of code build incredible things

I never quite understood the phrase “have kids early for the grandparents”. I knew the grandparents would enjoy grandkids but didn’t fully grasp it is all about the memories you make from such relationship

Pretty interesting. Sounds like Elon was right on this that there’s some synchronized clock (you never see with a person with a young and old arm)
