Following Wednesday evening's officer-involved shooting in Minneapolis, GHSA will contribute an additional $2,000 to support this organization's critical work and to reaffirm our commitment to always stand by our law enforcement partners. @MnDPS_DPS

During the conference, GHSA CEO @jraindc presented a $2,000 donation to the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association, funded entirely by proceeds from $10 bus tickets attendees purchased for trips to the Minnesota State Fair.

The New York City ‘Crime Reduction Miracle’ that began in 1990 and has continued to the present day began in the subways when the Transit Police started to enforce fare evasion laws. One out of every seven evaders stopped was wanted on a warrant, while one out of every 21 was carrying an illegal weapon. How do I know? I was Chief of the Transit Police that began that initiative. In 1994, as Police Commissioner, the enforcement of quality-of-life minor crime offenses like fare evasion, coupled with CompStat focus on serious crime, accelerated the crime decline and dramatic improvement in public safety in New York, and indeed around the country.
