There is no other Southern Baptist quite so providentially equipped to be having this conversation. Glad @WilliamWolfe was invited to speak bluntly, and did so.
"The vast majority of Jews in America identify with the Democratic Party...
We saw expressions of antisemitism on campuses by communists, and even after that, most Jews did not change their vote."
— @WilliamWolfe at NatCon Jerusalem.
Three years ago the horrific slaughter of more than 1200 people in Israel at the hands of Hamas terrorists shocked the world. Today anti-Semitic propaganda has turned many Americans into useful idiots for Islamic extremism. The tragic irony is that a group committed to genocide (and who would do it if they could) accuses Israel of that very crime. What do you think “from the river to the sea” means? It means the annihilation of Israel. Today we remember those who were slain and renew our support for the nation of Israel to live as a free and safe nation.
Seems like the receiver is just the University.
So not a court appointed receiver. More of an internal way to break up some intractable disagreement with the Divinity School.

The fascinating story of Florida's Adrian Rogers before Bellevue, as the pastor of FBC Merritt Island during the go-go years of the space race.
Even before he went to Memphis, he'd had an interesting life.

SBC President Willy Rice recently called on pastors to be more involved in politics—but can churches & pastors do that even while the IRS rewrites group-based tax exemption rules?
@jrwhitehead explains the rule change here, and what SBC churches can do

This is a VERY important read from @jrwhitehead for every SBC pastor and church planter, explaining the new IRS rules on tax exemption for churches that pose issues for our Baptist commitment to autonomous congregational churches
My latest at @BaptistLeaders: would you tell the IRS that the SBC supervises your church?
Just as @WillyRice called for pastors to be aware of politics, they should also be aware of legal issues facing their churches.

This year’s big, Baptist church-state problem has a January deadline.
And you’ve probably never heard about it.

Southern Baptist pastors should “absolutely” be a part of the political process in order to press on issues that speak to theological and moral clarity, SBC President Willy Rice told Fox News in a weekend interview.
baptistpress.com/resource-li…
Should Christians engage in the political process? There’s a lot at stake in the coming midterm elections. Many issues that are considered political are actually moral issues. @WillyRice is exactly right—throughout American history, pastors have had a strong and influential voice at key moments in our political history, and they need to raise their voices now!
I urge Christians to do their research, to pray, and to vote. The choice is clear. The two parties have opposite stands on almost every issue. One party supports open borders—allowing millions of unvetted, undocumented people to enter this country. Do you? Their party leadership supports men in women’s bathrooms and sports, gender transitioning for children, allowing parental rights to be ignored, abortion, and more. Do you? The other party wants our nation to have legal immigration, opposes allowing men in women’s sports, and defends the sanctity of life.
Who you choose to vote for has never been more important—get out and vote. As Christians, we are to be salt and light in an ever-decaying, dark world. foxnews.com/politics/souther…
FAITH IN ACTION: Southern Baptist Convention president fires back at calls for pastors to stay out of politics, urging Christian leaders to 'step up' ahead of midterm elections.
Willy Rice argues that abortion, marriage, gender identity and immigration are deeply theological issues that demand a pastoral voice in the public square.
Rice says the political and theological left never withdrew from politics — and that their silence created a vacuum conservative Christians are now paying for.

@WillyRice answering a question on pastoral involvement in politics "To answer your question, 'Should pastors be involved in politics?' The answer is absolutely!"
Willy is the right SBC President in this political firestorm. We should encourage our people to vote according to their biblical worldviews.

Ok, how do I get a discussion between @mungowitz and @PerfInjust?
I want a new right politics that accounts for what we’ve learned about the incentives and information problems since idealism, but see little way for liberalism to build and not corrode a shared “middle kingdom.”
If you two could square that circle for me, it would help.
This post gave me a vision of a future US divided between states run by AI personhood-believers and states run by AI non-personhood believers.
No bueno.
