You hold
$QUBIC because you believe mining can do useful work.
This week that work produced a headline every holder will repeat and almost nobody will read correctly.
Qubic miners trained a ternary neural network on one full year of hourly Bitcoin candles.
8,760 hours of data.
About 2,920 wrong calls.
Roughly 67% directional accuracy.
That is real progress on Useful Proof of Work. It is also not what most people think it is.
Here is what the 67% actually measures, and the four questions that decide whether it ever becomes worth anything.
1. Was it tested on data it never saw?
The 67% comes from the same year of candles the network was trained to score well on. Backtests flatter every model, and live markets do not care how good the past looked.
2. How often does it say "unknown"?
The network can answer up, down, or unknown. A model allowed to skip hard calls will always look sharper than one forced to pick a side.
3. What is it beating?
Bitcoin's hourly direction sits close to a coin flip. The real test is how far above that baseline it stays once fresh candles arrive.
4. Does anyone pay for the answer?
CfB has floated an idea where each prediction request burns roughly 5.9 billion QUBIC. It is a proposal under discussion, not a live product. If it ships and the calls hold, it becomes a demand sink tied directly to performance.
So the catalyst is not the 67%.
The catalyst is the first stretch of live hourly predictions, scored in public, on data nobody trained on.
If the edge survives that, this stops being a mining experiment and becomes a product people burn tokens to use.
If it decays toward 50%, you will have known before the crowd did.
Which way does it break?
Backtests sell tokens. Live results build networks.
