Good, don’t reward social justice warriors and activism in software. They can continue to massage and gatekeep with their political affiliations and code of conducts. Just don’t expect anyone to fund it.

Also, in case you didn't realise, Omarchy is built on top of Arch. Omarchy is a skin on top of Arch.

Did Arch actively searched for donations with a good pitch to make it a user friendly OS to replace windows or macOS on consumer devices and change the market?

The hyprland approach to build HCI is brilliant. Hyprland has been the real innovation in building "desktop" environments by completely upending the way kde/gnome/macos have thought about desktops. Hyprland has many custom setups. Omarchy is just one such setups - just happens to worse executed. We just want people to know there are alternatives. When Omarchy upgrades fail, as they will, don't give up on Linux.

Arch have refused to respond to calls, that's on them

Two possibilities, right? 1. Arch doesn't want to work with dhh? or 2. dhh didn't engage with the community in a way to deserve a response?

No arguments here man. Just was curious to see the difference and was surprised, so shared a data point.

tbf @dhh is trying for quite some time now to reach the Arch core team, but so far nobody answered. It's a shitshow tbh.

I guess all those that have Arch based distro should also contribute with Arch. Omarchy should support Arch

I don't know, but I guess there was/is the chance for Arch to get more.

Wait it's made by the same creator of ruby on rails, lmfao who the fuck would ever install omarchy

Wait, seriously? Who in the utter fuck would donate, well frankly, even the $586K that Arch got donated to Omarchy? I tried it, I truly don't understand all of the hype outside of the DHH dicksuckers.

Just notice all the big influencers and YouTubers talking about oMArchy just makes me think Mossad. This is all coordinated given the recent increase in posts. What Arch had, such as tiling window managers has been around for ages.

@dhh should donate to pkgbuild.com we need more advanced OBS for arch linux more storage so archlinux ships x64_v2 v3 v4 arm packages officially instead of shipping useless themes and dot file

Hilarious misallocation for sure, but there is such a thing as too much money in open source; just look at mozilla

Thats a problem. The money is flowing to what is viewed to be as commercially viable distro. Omarchy can be per-installed on a Dell or other computer from the factory and shipped to stores. You can't do that with Arch.

You are using Twitter that was built on Ruby on Rails (created by DHH). He has clearly a good track record: is it so bad to fund him to create something new? I do not understand where the problem is (but I do not know much about the Linux ecosystem)

And Arch just turned down some subset of ten million, likely because they prioritize politics and wokeness over quality, open source, and Linux.

i dont personally like omarchy but its not like these 10 mil were even going into open source anyways if it wasn't for it this money came out of connections, not merit or quality or anything hope they have the common sense to help arch though

When I started using arch, it was funded completely off the swag shop. Stickers and hoodies.

What about German Sovereign Tech Agency government grant €562,800 or this is different? I guess they paid by government mostly.

Creator of omarchy is trying to sponsor arch and/or the aur for a while but there is nobody to reach in order to make this happen. And Linux and arch can only benefit by these series of events, as it will only brong more people to Linux which to me sounds like a nice end goal.
