India has announced many ambitious missions. Few have moved from policy to production this fast. India launched the India Semiconductor Mission in 2022. And today we have- 12 semiconductor plants approved. ₹1.64 lakh crore in investments committed. 3 plants already in commercial production. And Semicon 2.0 has arrived, with another ₹ 1.27 lakh crore behind it. Ahead of Semicon India 2026, I sat down with Amitesh Kumar Sinha, CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission, to understand what comes next for the country. The policy shift he revealed was this: - The government of India will now invest in chip startups alongside VCs. Rupee for rupee, on the same terms as the fund. It shares the upside. It shares the risk. If the startup gets acquired, it takes its share like any other investor and puts that money behind the next founder. One story Amitesh Sir told me shows how far we have come in the last 4 years - In 2022, India asked SEMI (the global body that runs Semicon conferences around the world) to hold one in India. The answer was, in effect, no. There was no industry. So ISM ran Semicon 2022 and 2023 on its own. This week SEMI co-hosts Semicon India for the third year running, with more than 600 exhibitors and over 50 countries. But what stayed with me the most was not the money or the number of plants. It was the women working on the semiconductor packaging lines in Sanand. Women from Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and the Northeast, many of whom had never heard the word "semiconductor" before coming there. Today, they can explain chip packaging like engineers. Not only are factories being built. Not only is capital being deployed. But young Indians from small towns are acquiring extraordinary new capabilities. My full conversation with Amitesh Kumar Sinha is here yourstory.com/2026/09/semico…. See you at Semicon India 2026 this week :-) I'll be there and look forward to meeting you.

Every handloom has a story. Every weave carries generations of dreams, struggle and pride. On #NationalHandloomDay, I'm thinking of the countless weavers who have kept India's heritage alive, often without the recognition or opportunities they truly deserve. The best way to honour them isn't just by celebrating them today. It's by asking ourselves as citizens, entrepreneurs and policymakers what more we can do to help them earn better, build stronger brands and reach bigger markets. I've been heartened to see initiatives by the Andhra Pradesh government under @ncbn leadership from free power support for weavers to strengthening APCO and expanding market access for handloom products. I hope many more states take inspiration from such efforts and create their own models to empower this community. At @BharatProject, we believe India's future will be built not only by technology and startups, but also by those who keep our timeless traditions alive. To every weaver across India: "thank you". Your craft is our identity. 🇮🇳❤️ @naralokesh #NationalHandloomDay #VocalForLocal #Handloom #BharatProject

A boy from Jhunni Kala village in Purnea, Bihar took a 12-hour bus ride to Sainik School Tilaiya in 1977. What followed was four thousand hours in a fighter cockpit, a Sukhoi squadron of his own, and finally the desk where India's air operations are planned. He was at that desk through the four days of Operation Sindoor, 7 to 10 May 2025. When he briefed the nation, it was not with bravado, but with facts, restraint, and a verse from the Ramcharitmanas recited from memory: "भय बिनु होइ न प्रीति" Without fear, there is no love. He answered in short sentences, refused to guess at numbers he could not confirm, and made a point of saying that every Indian pilot was home. No chest-thumping. No exaggerated claims. As he retires after 39 years, India salutes not just a distinguished Air Marshal, but the journey of a village boy from Bihar who rose to serve the nation at the highest level. This is the Bihar India should celebrate. Air Marshal A.K. Bharti Salute to you, Sir. Story - yourstory.com/2026/08/air-ma…

A kilo of apples: ₹80 in September, ₹220 by January. India produced a record apple crop, yet spent $418 million importing 5.6 lakh tonnes in 2024-25. Why? Because India owns the harvest, but not the year. For four months, domestic apples flood the market. For the next eight, gaps in storage, grading and processing allow imports to fill the shelves. The opportunity is not simply to grow more. It is to keep premium fruit sellable longer, turn lower-grade apples into juice and concentrate and build a supply chain that earns throughout the year. In my latest deep dive with @AdithCharlie and @PremManukonda, we explore a billion-dollar opportunity hiding in plain sight for entrepreneurs. The spirit of Kashmir is not just found in its mountains or its valleys. It lives in its tehzeeb; its grace, its humanity, its hospitality, and its openness to dialogue. My sincere thanks to Chief Minister @OmarAbdullah for embodying those values. He gave the time to listen, and engage so openly on ideas to build ground level entrepreneurship and scale for the women and young people of Jammu & Kashmir. Looking forward with optimism. To everyone, come and build with the most resilient and passionate people of Kashmir. You’ll be very, very inspired. ❤️💗 #Kashmirstories

Two years back, I slipped and fractured my hand because of a broken drain cover around Ulsoor Lake. For many of us a broken and unlivable city is a reality. Traffic. Flooding. Pollution. Broken infrastructure. When I had just about given up on what can change, I found hope. My conversation with Krishna Byre Gowda is not about politics. It is about governance. It is about execution. It is about what happens when someone chooses to solve problems instead of merely talking about them. Whether you live in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata or any Indian city, this conversation matters. Because if one city can become more liveable, every city can. If you’re a young Indian wondering whether public service can still create real change, watch this. If you’re building India in any way, as a founder, citizen, student, policymaker, or professional, watch this. We spend enough time amplifying what’s broken. It’s time we also amplify people who are trying to build. This is one of the most important conversations I’ve had this year. Watch it. Share it. Let’s make stories of builders go as viral as stories of outrage. Bringing to you “The Nation Builders” @krishnabgowda

Hyderabad-based Maithri Aquatech, with its patented Meghdoot technology that creates drinking water from the air, has secured a major funding round. It’s a reminder that some of the most impactful innovations solve fundamental human problems not with incremental change, but by reimagining what’s possible. Congratulations to the team. Here’s to building real climate resilient solutions from India for the world. #DeepTech #ClimateTech #StartupIndia #Innovation

Let me admit, after hosting TechSparks and SheSparks and all those hundreds of events over the years, this was the first time I found myself hosting an event where the participants and I were sitting on the floor of a public park. Yes, we held our very first meeting of the pollution initiative and we decided it needed to be a community event, and not a corporate event. We gathered at Connaught Place's Central Park. A focused group of Founders, VCs, Private Equity people, academics - all deeply engaging with each other. We all had one thing in common - children, elders and loved ones who are struggling to breathe and desperately want to change things around. Founders pitched their products, investors gave their thumbs-up - and the community that decided to back each other in this journey. I will be sharing more details soon, but at this stage I just want to say - I am so grateful to everyone who is part of this initiative and has stepped up. Thank you. ❤️

I made a request hoping we could do something about Delhi's air pollution crisis together. In less than 2 days, I have more than 500 plus applications - almost all of them with some brilliant, very actionable ideas. Just wanted to offer my deepest gratitude to all of you who engaged with my post. Let’s take this forward in the coming week 🙏

When 38 districts speak, 25,000 ideas rise; Bihar shows the way. What began as a dream of 10,000 ideas in Bihar has become 25,000 voices of change. Special mention for the 33 young passionate Startup Coordinators, the Bihar Idea Festival is no longer just an event. It’s a movement. The Bihar Idea Festival began as a dream; to spark change in all 38 districts of Bihar, to inspire people to think like entrepreneurs, to become job creators, and to believe in the power of ideas. Our initial goal was to collect 10,000 ideas. Today, we stand with 25,000 ideas, more than double what we imagined. This was not possible alone. It has been made real because of support of so many Biharis coming together - the 33 Startup District Coordinators, who are standing with me in this photo. They are living proof that together, any change is possible. It is also a reminder that big, systemic change never happens in isolation. It happens when you work with some of the most passionate, ambitious young people. Also, the industries department of government of Bihar who lead this from the front. Thank you to minister @mishranitish for making this all possible in Bihar. You have shown that a driven leader can make things happen on ground. And we await and welcome minister @PiyushGoyal to Bihar today. Sir, your presence gives us the strength, encouragement and wings to fly higher. Thank you for coming to Bihar 😍

@IPRDBihar #Jeevika #BRLPS #TransformingBihar #RisingBihar #WomenLedDevelopment #WomenEmpowerment
लिंक 👇 youtu.be/miC7GFCWm14?si=wf1P…

Sir, as you already know, Bihar has very high quality talent and big investments with large industries and IT - AI parks, tourism to agri investments will stop the migration to a large extent. We need that in Bihar as a priority. It will change the story: though things have happened, but, still( a lot needs to be done,
