Honestly....while we have abortion we should definitely have the death penalty, otherwise you are saying a criminals life is worth more than an unborn innocents so if you have one you should definitely have the other

Thing is, would anyone actually be given the death penalty? As it is, getting a conviction let alone a custodial sentence for rape/sex assault etc is almost impossible. The vast majority just walk away with a rap on their knuckles (IF the victims are lucky).

No. I simply don't trust the Irish justice system with that (irreversible) level of power.

My late uncle, who, as a prison officer, witnessed the last hanging in Ireland, always maintained that if you witnessed capital punishment, you would not be an advocate for capital punishment.

No. Removal of offending limbs is the way to go, hands + extra kneecapping for murder. Victims or families live with trauma for lifetime. If a guy rapes my daughter, she'll remember him so I want him to remember her ever time he takes a piss until he dies. Suicide his choice.

Killing people is wrong, so NO! (In what way would the state killing people show people that killing people is wrong?) How many people who were "definitely" guilty (e.g.. the Maguires & Birmingham six), but later found to be completely innocent? Executions cannot be undone.

Yes for: First degree premeditated murder Rape including assaults against adults and children Terrorism and Treason I would put an asterisk on the broad 'rape' term however as many cases of statutory rape are teenagers who simply became 18 and slept with their significant other through mutual choice

My instinct still says No .. this is not the answer but when you read of harrowing abuse to children its hard to not agree. Who ultimately has the power to judge? Yes God but there must be consequences for demonic activity especially to children. 😞🤮

On principle, yes, but in reality, no. You simply couldn’t trust them. Given how incompetent the Irish justice system is, and the way judges are appointed, you could never guarantee a proper verdict.

Chemical castration for Paedophiles to save them from themselves‼️ Make Any illegal offence punishable by prison sentence including illegal immigration ‼️ Life Sentence for murder should be a lot harsher, the minimum sentence at present is 12 years, that needs to be doubled ‼️

Howdy 🇮🇪Keira🇮🇪 Absolutely 💯. Bring back the gallows for treason and especially the crimes listed. The decent hardworking people of 🇮🇪Éire🇮🇪 should not be forced to pay for the upkeep of evildoers nor accept horrendous life sentences of grief after the wicked deeds of the few.

I'm for capital punishment for these crimes but the Irish government and all of their systems cannot be trusted.

Yes. 100%. With most of those crimes the victims technically recieve a life sentence in terms of trauma. Death is the only viable option for the perpetrators.

I'm always drawn back to the movie The Life of David Gale when the discussion of capital punishment comes up. While the movie itself is a work of fiction, it raises a pertinent question: can the official account of a crime ever truly be corroborated?

No …deport foreign criminals, pay the receiving country the cost of imprisoning them ( cheaper for Ireland, less cushy for prisoner) , thus making room in Irish prisons for proper lengthy sentences for Irish criminals… make prison tougher and bring in flogging for teen scumbags

It would save on cramped prison spaces, no reoffending is possible and is a cheaper solution to keeping them in relative comfort in prison for extended periods.

Membership of the Council of Europe requires its abolition and the global trend is firmly towards abolition. US, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Egypt are outliers by executing more people in 2025 than 2024.

Yes, it is biblical. The Lord said "Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed." (Genesis 9:6) Why should murderers have a 'life' in prison?
