It is unfortunate that one of the enduring legacies of Joe Biden will be that he defended and supported the massacre of women and children by Israel… and Vice President Harris has refused to change course. It is wrong to kill children, to bomb hospitals, to starve people to death, and to block humanitarian aid - no matter what flag you wrap it in. Even if you have a shooter hiding in a school, you don’t blow up the school with the children inside to try to kill the shooter. For those who don’t believe this is a genocide… surely we can at least agree that killing tens of thousands of women and children is evil… and wrong… and Un-Christlike. The violence of Israel and the US is indefensible. It is impossible to reconcile with any version of Just War Theory. It is a direct contradiction of the life and teaching of Jesus. No one - and especially no Christian- can defend the atrocities that happened on October 7 by Hamas OR the atrocities that have been committed since October 7 by Israel. Two wrongs do not make a right.

One of the biggest lies we Christians have believed is that the best and most effective way to address the most pressing issues of our time is to gain more control over others rather than become more compassionate towards others. It is the opposite of the gospel of Jesus.

Beware of any Christian movement that acts as though the world is full of enemies to be destroyed rather than full of neighbors to be loved.
