NBCA Thrombassador and volunteer Donna Brovender will host Connection, Community & Purpose at LoveShackFancy in Palm Beach, Florida—a beautiful example of what happens when community members turn personal loss into action. Donna is a blood clot survivor herself. She also lost both her daughter and her husband to pulmonary embolism. After experiencing both survival and heartbreaking loss, Donna has made it her mission to help others recognize blood clot warning signs and access the information she wishes every family had. Donna will bring together her community and the National Blood Clot Alliance for an afternoon centered on connection, community, and purpose. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about blood clot risks, prevention, and warning signs through educational resources that can help save lives, while enjoying light bites and shopping at LoveShackFancy, with a portion of sales being donated back to support NBCA's mission. This legislation will help protect Oklahomans through stronger, standardized blood clot prevention efforts in hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers — including VTE prevention protocols, staff education and training, and a statewide blood clot registry designed to improve care and save lives. That's what Heather was told in the ER — after she arrived with a grey foot, a stiff leg, and no detectable pulse. 🩸 Heather had developed a blood clot in her popliteal artery following a routine varicose vein surgery.
