Building on Cardano just got better The Cardano Foundation (@Cardano_CF) has open-sourced Mesmo, a native shared library that implements Cardano's core functionality in Python, Go, Rust, and JavaScript without requiring a Java Virtual Machine. Based on BloxBean's Cardano Client Lib and compiled with GraalVM Native Image, Mesmo provides a C API that existing SDKs can call via FFI. This means developers can keep their existing toolchains and use Mesmo only where needed. This includes Conway-era governance (DRep registration, voting, treasury transactions), staking, payments, key generation using seed phrases, address validation, Blake2b/Ed25519 cryptography, and offline plutus cost estimation. Transactions are modeled declaratively and constructed offline; the host programming language submits them. The approach bridges the gap after hard forks without requiring development teams to change toolchains or implement Java bindings. Mesmo is in early pre-release (Python 0.1.0rc8).
