I am starting to lose hope in the future of the internet being fun and cool.
They're really REALLY squeezing everyone into just a handful of places, and I am complicit.
Twitter is so ass in terms of functionality, but it at least lets you chud out or whatever. We all know the browser app and the phone app and the mobile browser app and whatever other versions could possibly exist are absolutely ass. Alt-frontends are better, they're they're going after them in court, so it's only a matter of time.
Facebook is a boomer graveyard, and Instagram is Facebook for Millennials, but I will say that at least the slop apps seem to work better. I really am not one to ask because I haven't used IG more than like a 2 week period almost a decade ago, and Facebook I use to contact IRL friends via their goyapp chat service, but even then it's been just a handful of times a year since shortly before covid. It did just werk, though, for whatever that's worth.
Youtube is not a real social media. It's a video hosting company.
4chan gets worse and worse, as real users scatter to random blue boards, but that's kind neat in its own way, but the fast boards and all red boards tend to be super unplayable ass on average.
Altchans suck overall, just dead zones, but at least people that are actually there tend to effort post and there's no goyshill sloppa everywhere.
Forums are kill.
Am I supposed to like go to Discord groups or something? That sounds miserable, but at least that goyware works.
I don't know what the solution really is to get people to use some sort of based and reasonably self-owned Discord clone that works or whatever. Matrix isn't the answer I don't think for the average person >.< I love Matrix though, personally, but I don't use it to join any public rooms, just link up chat services into one UI.
