If I was a smaller or early stage fund, I’d be giving the Dealroom API a very solid look 🕵️‍♂️
From zero to an investor relationship map in 3.5 hours. Congrats @lkao and @ben_bourdin on winning our API hackathon! What would you build with Dealroom’s company, founder, investor and funding data? Our new API is open for early access. Demo below.

🥇 This past Thursday, I participated in my first-ever hackathon with @ben_bourdin for @dealroomco's API Hackathon at Phoenix Court, and we won! We built a Sankey graph to show the weighted relationships your investors have with other investors that share the same portfolio companies, both up and downstream. Dealroom's API let us go from nothing to a working map of relationships in 3.5 intense hours. Even in that short time, I could already see so many more ideas of what's possible: 🧐 Funds can analyze themselves: who they think they are (their thesis) vs who they really are (actual returns on their portcos) 💰 I can even see how you could design a system to guess how much a fund has left to deploy, so you don't waste your time pitching the wrong investors 🌍 Map out a path to IPO I think this API access has the potential to really unlock some awesome data network effects. Most importantly for me personally, this hackathon has kickstarted my product brain and I'll be testing and experimenting new apps in the coming weeks and sharing what I learn. Follow along if that sounds fun. Congrats to Peter van Sabben (@sabben), Orla Browne (@smorla), Henryk Kornfeld, Boris Bavinck and the rest of the team at Dealroom for opening up the API and hosting this event. It was so wonderful to come back to Phoenix Court (@phxcrt) home of LocalGlobe (@localglobevc) my first investor back in 2015, and to Saul Klein (@cape), Ambi Mistry (@AmbiMistry), and Nuno Campos (@nfcampos) for hosting and judging.

We’ll be releasing stories from the upcoming book and this is an excellent one. Take a look 👀
"These random TV shows" can lift you out of a low place to heights you never imagined. Moon's story is proof. This is our first featured story from @amandatapping's Purpose: Embracing Mental Health as a Fandom. Moon sent it in early on, before we'd even organized the book into chapters, and it felt like the whole book in one story. It sits in Chapter 3: Courage, which it has plenty of. But it's also full of humor and humility, loss and longing, friendship and fandom. I hope you love it. We all did when we first read it. Know someone who needs to read a story like this? Share it with them ✈ #Stargate #Sanctuary #AmandaTapping #MentalHealth #Fandom

This is the most inspiring tweet I’ve ever read
I've met YC founders who told me they'll give up if they can't raise from Sequoia or a16z. They're ex-Big Tech/Quant Firms, and did YC to build clout and move up the SF social ladder. If they can't raise from Tier 1s, there's no point in downgrading their status to a Tier 2 VC. It's more rational to give up, return to their $400k jobs and try again in a few years.

There is so much truth here. I hope all my UK and European friends read and understand this.
1/ Startup ecosystems everywhere are trying to copy Silicon Valley. But the secret isn't the weather or the schools. It's the angels. There are SO many of them. And what most people don't realize: a LOT of them are writing $1,000 checks. Read on >>

I’m very good at making bacon and egg sandwiches and I love making them on the weekend. When I get a quick breakfast during week, I still order breakfast sandwiches. Sometimes my sandwich is better, oftentimes the food truck’s is better. Like some things in life, make it yourself, but like many other things in life, buy it from someone who does it everyday.
I feel like the fact that Anthropic still uses Typeform for their email marketing and customer surveys is testament to the fact that some SaaS solutions are perhaps not entirely as dead as many have predicted Imagine you are working at one of the most frontier technology labs and you have access to the greatest AI models available and somehow you decide to use Typeform instead of rolling your own quick and dirty solution what does this mean?

I’m really proud of this. We’re on the last mile of printing the book, and can’t wait to get it into the hands of everyone. 💫
"Who the heck am I to write a book about mental health?" That's how Amanda Tapping opens her book Purpose. Swipe to read her full intro, and why she wrote it.

I’ve been deliberately taking some time off to finish a book I’ve been working on and exploring new ideas and projects. The one thing that’s been hard that goes against my optimistic and positive nature, is learning that it’s good to say no. When you say no to something, you’re turning down one opportunity. Because when you say yes to something, you’re turning down every other opportunity.

The most amazing thing about the multiverse is that right now, there are versions of you that have achieved all you ever set out to do. Your losses directly helped create their wins.

A few observations from a week in London: 1/ The startup energy here is completely different than 10y ago. The level of risk taking, ambition, and talent has changed dramatically 2/ There remains a huge fintech opportunity here. Revolut, GoCardless, and many others were built on the incredible finance talent in London 3/ Their vision in building public transit infrastructure is peerless in the west 4/ London in good weather is probably the best city in the world

Can someone clarify? A competitor is paying this guy to sh!tpost perplexity or maybe a competitor bought/built a bot account to auto sh!tpost? That’s like where marketing is heading right?

There a lot more people here than I anticipated. It’s a clear signal of how the founder landscape has shifted.
