Never let anyone tell you that journalism doesn't generate change.
In November I revealed that Dutch Police reports undermined West Midlands Police's justification for banning fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv from Birmingham.
I also spoke to the Mayor of Amsterdam who disputed their account of events in her city involving Maccabi fans.
Further scrutiny exposed more inaccuracies.
- Their 'intelligence' report cited a football match that never happened.
- They were forced to apologise for wrongly telling MPs that this wasn't the result of a "hallucination" by artificial intelligence.
- They also retracted claims that the Jewish community backed their decision to ban Maccabi fans.
Today, after scrutiny by journalists like myself and @Gabriel_Pogrund and the tenacity of parliamentarians like @NJ_Timothy and @LordIanAustin , some accountability has finally been taken and the chief constable has decided to leave his position early.

Israel's diaspora affairs minister's (in my view bigoted) characterisation of Mahmood is completely at odds with the view of many of Britain's Jewish communal leaders.
She won praise for her willingness to call out and tackle Islamist extremism in the aftermath of the Heaton Park terror attack.
When people speak of the political takeover of a country by Islamism, they imagine bearded sheikhs in robes.
In reality, political Islam often looks exactly like this: Oxford English, fashionable clothes and progressive rhetoric.
That is true of the Islamist @NYCMayor Mamdani and it is equally true of the Islamist @ShabanaMahmood.
I sincerely hope, for the sake of the British people, that the lunatic BDS activists who have taken over their country do not drag Britain into an abyss from which there is no way back.

More criticism of Chikli’s comments from shadow attorney general Lord Wolfson who brands the Israeli minister’s remarks “ridiculous”
I disagree with @ShabanaMahmood on plenty, and think many of her policies are both misguided and counterproductive. As Shadow Attorney General, it’s part of my job to challenge the Government - including a Home Secretary who’s also a former Lord Chancellor.
But calling her an “Islamist” is ridiculous. Politics is better when we attack bad arguments, not smear people with labels and slogans.

There are many good reasons to criticise @ShabanaMahmood. Calling her an Islamist is not one of them.
Mahmood is a British, female, Muslim Labour MP. She is mainstream, even centrist.
The implication of Chikli's accusation is that all Muslims are Islamists. That is not only wrong, but dangerously wrong as it attacks those Muslims who are themselves opposed to Islamists.

In a recording of the meeting seen by @thetimes, Sam Alston, a Jewish member of the Oxford Greens, argued that making members face internal disciplinary procedures for attending synagogues that self-described as Zionist would be “indirect religious discrimination”
Alston added: “The reason we need this amendment is because, if the Green Party members vote down the idea that the synagogue membership should be protected and should be compatible with Green Party identity, it would be a terrible signal to send to Jewish members and I really think we are not going to do that.”
