Airbnb owners are the reason people no longer use Airbnb
I live next door to our Airbnb: We keep the fridge empty of course, and most of the freezer. A few weeks ago I bought a large tri-tip, and put it in there. My home freezer was too full. On a whim, opened the Airbnb freezer today, (sometimes people leave their vodka in there after a visit, and we have new guests coming today ), and my tri-tip is gone. So we’re stealing MEAT now? On a mini-vacation. That’s wild.
Community note
Hosts are advised to store personal items separately from guest areas and clearly communicate available provisions, as accessible fridge/freezer items are often assumed available for use or left by prior guests. lodgify.com/blog/airbnb-ch… rentalrecon.com/host-advice-an… airbnb.com/help/article/2…

Best argument for term limits I’ve ever heard. “I can’t do my constitutional role of protecting the country because I am afraid I might lose a seat where my job is to protect the country.” It’s kinda disgusting. You swore an oath for God’s sake.

I would give almost anything to have been in the room to watch the guy whose job it was to convince a Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas graduate that his boss has successfully matched God and created a soul.
NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV’s AI encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious. Olah’s team then privately lobbied the pope’s advisers “to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously.” Pope Leo XIV held firm. For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing. thelettersfromleo.com/p/nyt-…

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
