🇨🇦 The potash debate perfectly illustrates my point.
When Trump announced Belarus as a potential alternative source, I watched Canadians cheering it on because they thought it proved Trump right.
Think about that.
Canadian potash means Canadian mines, Canadian workers, Canadian exports and Saskatchewan jobs. Yet some people seemed genuinely excited by the possibility of 🇺🇸 replacing 🇨🇦 supply because it validated their political grievances.
Criticize Ottawa. Debate immigration. Debate energy. Debate taxes. Debate western alienation. We should have those conversations.
But when disagreement with your own government turns into cheering against your own country’s economic interests, we’ve crossed into something different.
You don’t have to like the government to root for Canada. 🇨🇦
