Out of curiosity and so I can decide whether I should make some educational CRRT posts: who decides the CRRT settings in your ICU? E.g. blood flow rate, citrate dose, substitution, dialysate rate.

American Society of Health System Pharmacists 👏 👏 👏 “Study of close to 2.5 million pregnancies in a 25-year period published in the JAMA (2024) failed to show increased risk of ASD, ADHD, or intellectual disability diagnoses among children exposed to acetaminophen in utero”
Your patients may have questions following the news that the Food and Drug Administration plans to include label warnings suggesting potential autism risks associated with acetaminophen use in pregnancy. Share this new article from ASHP’s SafeMedication, a consumer-friendly source of information written by pharmacists, explaining that current evidence points to the safety of acetaminophen use during pregnancy: hubs.ly/Q03LxbrC0

There’s some really good stuff in this thread
📔 Approved in Nov 2024, the @APApsychiatric Clinical Guidelines for #delirium are now published! The statements often get the press, but don’t overlook the implementation sections. So many gems in there. 🧐 Let’s take a quick look at the statements… psychiatryonline.org/doi/boo…

Meds need be called out for their contributions to delirium. They're so often either 𝐓𝐇𝐄 or 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 culprits. Clean up the med list where possible and definitely familiarize yourself with the Beers Criteria. agsjournals.onlinelibrary.wi…

As someone invested in the link between sleep & delirium, I’m underwhelmed with the data on melatonergics for delirium. For one, they’re chronobiotics, not sleeping pills. We need proper circadian-informed RCTs before we can conclude anything about melatonergics in delirium.

What’s frustrating as a physician on social media is when you have fun content ideas to provide meaningful medical education to your audience, but then a powerful idiot starts mass diagnosing something fake like “mitochondrial challenges” while people watching at the airport, so then you’re like ok I guess I have to deal with this now
RFK JR: I’m looking at kids as I walk through the airports today...and I see these kids that are just overburdened with mitochondrial challenges, inflammation—you can tell from their faces, movements, and lack of social connection
