Abdul El-Sayed is currently saying that his name "Abdul" means servant and that's why his parents chose it. That's funny because when Abdul was running for Governor in 2018 he claimed numerous times that his parents named him Abdul after Paula Abdul.

He never claimed he was named after Paula Abdul. He said in 1989, when he was going to Kindergarten, his stepmother suggested he start just going by Abdul, like Paula Abdul, instead of Abdulrahman. I don’t like the guy, but at least try to tell the truth.

That's not what he claimed. He was looking for an easier name to go by at school. Abdulalrahman was out of the question. Along with his parents he settled on Abdul because it was easier to say and less intimidating because of Paula Abdul's popularity.

You're confusing two different things. His birth name is Abdulrahman, which means "servant of the Most Merciful" in Arabic. His parents shortened it to Abdul when he started school because Paula Abdul had made the name familiar to Americans. And guess what? The shortened name Abdul still means "servant" in Arabic. You, and many like you, just not smart enough, or too lazy, to understand that both stories are true, and in no way contradictory.

His birth name is Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed. In 1989, when he was about to enter kindergarten, his parents decided to shorten his first name because teachers struggled to pronounce it. Paula Abdul and Kareem. Helped make the shortened name “Abdul” familiar to Americans.

That's not what he said. He said his parents were worried the name he was given at birth (in 1984) "wouldn't fly", presumably with the other kids, I'm guessing, until Paula Abdul hit the big time in 1989. Why make stuff up?

Are you still doing this? The video you yourself posted says nothing about being named after Paula abdul. He says his stepmother said he wouldn't last a day in public school with the name Abdul, but then Paula Abdul came on the charts...when he was five.

Sayed attempting to reinvent himself when he is clearly on the record saying completely different. 🫣 Hope he wore his brown pants.

El-Sayed's 2018 gubernatorial campaign claimed that his parents named him after singer Paula Abdul. She rose to fame years after his 1984 birth.

They named him after Paula Abdul, because AES is "as Michigan as it gets."

Guess what genius? His parents named him after Paula Abdul. That doesn’t change the meaning of Abdul. Where do we get these idiots?

Abdul el-Sayed’s full name is Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed. In 2018 he claimed his mother chose “Abdul” name because Paula Abdul was popular. However, Paula Abdul didn’t become famous until 3-4 years after he was born. So it looks like he lied. share.google/aimode/yjr11yu0…

It seems more likely he changed his name because his first name was chosen specifically by his parents and means a servant of the most high, Allah.

You do realize it’s possible for two things to be true at once, right?? Also, that’s not what he said in 2018, he said he shortened it to the nickname “Abdul” after Paula Abdul, not that that was his full name given at birth.
