Onboarding people to crypto is hard. I obsess over it. You need to will it into existence.
I'm doubling-down on
@jessepollak challenge: I'm adding 10 more $100 USDC bounties for the most viral videos onboarding strangers. Post on social.
And I'm sharing a bunch of tips to help you.
I’ve onboarded 10k+ people IRL through Base Cafes, State of Crypto, Base Hunt, Coffee Days, Accept USDC, and
@base builder events..
I’ve worked on basically every
@coinbase onchain activation: BTC Pizza Truck, All-Star Weekend, NBA games—you name it.
Each time, I learn, iterate, and improve. It’s a muscle you build by doing.
You’ve got two paths (or do both):
1️⃣ Keep teaching your friends to trade tokens and memes. Great real use case—kinda like saying “Hey, want $50?”
2️⃣ Hit the ground. Talk to strangers. Onboard them IRL. Pique their interest about crypto: stablecoins, identity, DeFi, music, art, apps, DAOs.
If you’re doing #1, go beyond and show them "what else" crypto makes possible—borderless payments & digital ownership typically resonate. The more familiar use cases people hear, the less scammy crypto becomes to them.
If you’re doing #2, here's a 🧵 full of onboarding ideas.
Instead of complaining about a video, make something better. Action produces information.
Talk less. Do more. Onboard more. Build more.
